No GameDay. They’ll be in Lubbock for TT-Houston. Thanks, Carolina.

Take it out on them.

Also just realized we have a break and they have another game on Tuesday against Notre Dame. Genuinely hope they win that one, don’t want them coming to town on a losing streak and desperate. Let them expend a ton of energy while we rest up and get a week of film and focus on them

85-60 Heels on Tuesday would be great

Carolina sucks

So far, we gave come back rusty after each break. Hopefully break that trend like they did with the blue/orange unis.

GameDay would have been nice, but I’m fine with it being in Texas. It seems like under CTB GameDays were distractions and we usually lost. We’ll get plenty of notice playing UNC at 2 pm on ESPN. I also am not worried about rust. The guys need some recovery time and will be more refreshed in a week.

From UNC board

“When we see how UVA has revitalized its program by hiring Odom and they drill us next week maybe it will dawn on the administration that when you really have an open hiring process you can find a great coach. Odom is really, really good.”

….should we worry about UNC trying to poach Odom?

It just would have been nice as a sort of formal announcement that the Odom era has arrived, and it is probably our only chance given the rest of our home games. Maybe the Miami game if they’re still rolling?

No this is his dream job. Could see them getting Byington

Yeah that’s who I think it’ll be as well which will be very sad for me personally. Could be Oats or Otz if they feel capped out at their current spots, but Byington feels like the one they can for sure get. Scott Drew probably gets a call as well.

But I’m not 100% sure Odom wouldn’t listen if they called..

Dudes needed this break with two very physical games. I think we will be fine come Saturday with a sell out crowd!

I’m far more worried about the orange uniforms

I am bummed that they lost both WC games. Which is rare, since I’m usually very happy when UNC loses, but they’ll probably drop out of the rankings, robbing the matchup of some buzz.

I rather doubt that UNC will come after Odom, pretty rare to poach in-conference HCs, and it’s not as if he’s suffering for support here in addition to the “dream job” and family connections.

Not to mention another week for Jacari to adapt.

I’m not so sure how open our process was. I think we would have stayed in-house with Sanchez if he had had a moderately successful season. And once we decided to go outside Bennett’s staff, Odom was our top choice from the start. I don’t think we were seriously considering anyone else. (Besides, it’s not like Odom is an outside candidate. He’s sorta part of the 'Hoos family. Just from a different era.)

We absolutely had an open process. We spoke to at least Shaka and lil Pitino that we know of. Interviewed Medved and some others too. I’m pretty sure we also at least discussed with Byington and it didn’t make financial sense.

Odom was a great candidate and in our back yard already so the hire was pretty clean and painless, but we definitely did the right process.

We did interviews, etc. for various candidates. It wasn’t just window dressing. I think Odom was always the most likely of the possible candidates (including Ron, even assuming a decent season), but that’s different than saying we didn’t seriously consider anyone else.

I remember Olen, too? I know he was involved at some point.

I’m not worried about Odom to UNC (or anywhere for that matter) in the least. But as far as coaching tree, Dean Smith → Tony Shaver → Ryan Odom. I feel certain Odom is in his final job as long as the success is there.
