Iām sorry but this is crazy. It absolutely has a massive impact on how we view the future of the program from a roster construction standpoint, but also this season. Miles committed, he wanted to be here, then Odom recruited over him as stated by HGN, which was a massive miscalculation. That is extremely relevant both to this season and the future of Odomās tenure. It is significantly lowered the ceiling season this year. Just look at Miles numbers against good competition this year.
you are right from the standpoint that bringing it up in every thread is pointless. What is done is done. But when we see miles putting up 20 every night against good competition and playing really solid D and then Hall playing like shit the last two games and awful defense in every game, it has to make you question some decisions that were made. This is not hindsight stuff
Again, youāre assuming it was a massive miscalculation and that it lowered our season based on 3 weeks of basketball. Miles appears to have worn out his welcome at all of his previous spots, so maybe the reason to continue recruiting had nothing to do with on-court performance. I donāt know. Iām not on the staff. If you want to view whatever success Miles has in one year at Vandy as an indictment on our program or Odomās decision-making, be my guest. I think thatās ludicrous, but you do what you want.
Plus Odomās system requires numbers and a fair bit of depth on the bench. Seems like Miles and Hall could have coexisted and played plenty of minutes each. Seems less of recruiting over and simply needing more playable guards. I donāt think Odom did anything wrong trying to stock the backcourt the way his teams play. Miles just bailed in my opinion. Thatās on him not Odom.
24 Assists on 32 made FGs. Nice, certainly compared to the total 14 assists combined in the 2 Greenbrier games, but also a function of some shots from the outside going down.
This team canāt recognize a zone D - no clue on attacking it.
Really starting to like Lewis - a lot. Doesnāt seem to get beat as often on D and his shot is just sweet.
Would be nice for TDR and Grünloh (who reminds me of having the same body build and movements as a young Wally Walker) to get some sets run to create mismatches inside. They are both very good operating down low - also sets up the inside out 3 (did see it one time early in the first half).
Good bounce back game to have some positives to build on for next week.
I have questions; Did Grünloh have a double double? Did we have 6 guys in double figures? Did De Ridder have 21 points? Did we shoot 53.3% and 45.5% from 3? Did we out rebound Queens by 7? Did we have 24 assists on 32 baskets? Did Chance have 8 rebounds?
Did we lose to Vanderbilt today? The heck with Miles. Nice win, we played better today than against Butler. Big game Wednesday.
Watched Odomās postgame ⦠he is not happy with the defense. I was glad to hear it but itās going to be a tough ask ⦠we just donāt have quicks on the perimeter. They will get connected better as the season goes on but we will need to win with the offense.
Defense is light years better when Thomas is on the bench. He puts so much pressure on other 4 defenders with his half hearted effort and creates some of our foul trouble on our bigs. He cannot remain a starter without improving on defense.
Sure, its easy to say that now. But it was a lot less clear during the off-season. On paper, Thomas was obviously better than either, yet here we are. You gotta have depth.
When Hall committeed to us Miles left so fast I thought Hall must have been a superstar. Heās played well on occasion but heās nothing like I .expected
