Game day is finally here!
What are we watching for?
I want to see Dallin and Sam Lewis look good, Chanceās minutes, and how Elijah looks health wise/his spot in the rotation. Also would like to see the euros keep themselves out of foul trouble.
Hall, Lewis, and Tillis have the most to prove, given how bad they looked in the exhibitions. But my top concern: I want to see De Ridder play more aggressively. Six shots in 26 minutes is not nearly enough.
No 3 ball attempt yet for TDR right?
I donāt super care about individual things but I want to see us beat out computer lines by 10 points or more. Really pour it on. Thats what it takes to move up in the computer rankings these days when you play bad teams so we need to pour it on and not take our foot off the gas
Weirdly enough I think Odom understands that game and will pour it on. And one of the nice parts about how deep he likes to go into a rotation is he can do that without really looking like heās trying to pour it on.
Good teams pour it on. This isnāt some computer trickery
My concern is that we are the type of team that can pour it on for like a 5 minute stretch. We need to be more (gulp) continuous.
Yes for the most part. But Tony had some really good teams that he was blowing out and then the green team came in and let the lead get cut by 10 or 15 which hurt our computer numbers. There are definitely coaches like that but probably fewer these days I guess
Iāll be interested to see if the other team has any players shorter than chance
Love the shots of Sean, Kyle, and of course Ralph. I just wish they had made it a bit longer to hype all of our great history. Itās hard to pick which highlights to show because there are so many. But I might have picked Brogs hitting the game winner at Pitt, Hunterās dagger at Louisville, Richard Morganās 30 foot three against UNC, Adam Hall teabagging the Dukie (I forget which one), and maybe some shots of Stith, Lamp, Walker, and Parkhill out of respect.
Stats (link not active yet)
Zion Cruz (Rider) and Gertrude played together at Hudson Catholic for a year:
After that, he went to the Patrick school, and then to Donda academy. Remember Donda? That was the best Titus+ Tate material
Iāve got my eye on how they get De Ridder his touches in the offense and what his path to a higher usage player looks like.
Theyāre really pushing the āAvailable ticketsā on all platforms. I checked the seating map and thereās a scattering of tix available in the last third of rows in the upper level but nothing crazy. It sounds like student tickets still available as well.
Iām part of the problem (donāt want to make the drive from Richmond). Had I not been able to already see them via the scrimmage, I probably would have been driving out thereā¦
Same. I was thinking about Jim Root / Will Warren noting that the stat to watch for Virginia is points in the paint. TDR on the block/in the paint seems like it will be a decent part of that, as will our ability to have Grunoh and Onyenso as rim runners. Some decent success on the latter during our scrimmages. All of that is downstream of other stuff (are screens fluid and players coordinated, are guards protecting the ball), but still think itās a decent proxy for our offensive ceiling.
If you want to drive up with me⦠Iām leaving around 5. I have an extra ticket too. haha!
Might need to team up for a future game!
Monday night is a bit tough.. Not sure Iād have made it when I was a student. Certainly couldnāt make it now.
