šŸˆ Virginia vs Stanford, Saturday, 20 September 2025, 1930, ACCN

Yeah, not sure where those are from / how accurate they’d be this far out

Exactly this.

Before Brady, Belichick was a bum. After Brady, he was too accomplished to call a bum, but that’s exactly what he’s been.

The only remaining question in my mind is whether he was a bum during the Brady years too. I begrudgingly admit Brady was :goat:, but did he become so with an anchor holding him back?

The post-breakup years would indicate he did. Maybe I shouldn’t be so begrudging toward Brady.

The only thing that holds me back from that argument is early Brady while fairly clutch was a game manger. Perhaps Bill held him back, but I also think he needed those kid gloves early and it was BB’s defense that carried them. If Brady had to sling it like crazy 01- pre Moss maybe he’s not quite the GOAT but still very good.

But I do think at some point Bill’s personnel choices held Brady back

For me, the Bill versus Brady argument is no longer really up for debate.

Bill lost in Cleveland before Brady came along, and in NE after he left. And most of those teams were BAD.

Brady won a Super Bowl without BB, with a team that wasn’t a serious contender with most of the same cast before he got to Tampa, and a lot of key guys after he retired.

I’m not a Pats fan, but for me he’s the most undisputed GOAT as there is in any of the 4 major professional sports. 2nd place isn’t that close.

Kelley Ford will do a version of this in a bit, been refreshing his site since lunch for the team sheets lol

He tweeted a few out earlier so I thought they were ready and was hoodwinked

Our big changes this week will just be adjusted Cal and VT probabilities I’d bet.

I am 100% counting out Belichick. He doesn’t want to be there. His staff is a joke. He will quickly lose that locker room (if he hasn’t already).

And their offense stinks. They didn’t crack 300 yds until halfway through the 4th against Richmond and didn’t break 300 vs Charlotte. And their starters played the whole game both games.

Here it is. 7.2 wins and 71% win expectancy against Tech. Not falling for that one!

Waiting for all of tech to transfer out and we get a forfeit W!!

This pod talked a lot about tech and UCLA openings but kind of inadvertently ended up talking about us a decent bit too. Probably the most they’ve discussed us in a few years.

Mentioned that there were rumors if our job came open that Chesney and Clawson would be high on the list, but then talked about how good our offense looks and how our schedule sets up.

They think tech has a good pool of candidates to grab from though :frowning:

The Athletic graded the VT job a B, which I think is generous. Vannini also graded the UCLA job as a B after calling the program troubled.

This was included in the blurb on Chesney ā€œThere’s a good in-state option in James Madison head coach Bob Chesney. He’s 48 and a proven winner at the lower levels (he left Holy Cross for JMU). In his first season he led the Dukes to a 9-4 record that included a 70-50 rout of North Carolina and a bowl win against Western Kentucky. The Pennsylvania native is 121-51 in four stops as a college head coach. I’ve heard that if Virginia makes a change with Tony Elliott, Chesney would be in play, but he’s someone Tech should be considering.ā€

All I know is if we don’t beat a coach-less VPI at HOME this year, we don’t deserve football

I brought this up in the other thread. Agree, that seems generous. I’d go B- to C range.

Exactly. Fool me once, shame on . . . me. Fool me twice . . . won’t get fooled again!

Have to agree about the grade inflation. If you really twisted my arm maybe I see them as a B but I’d need to squint real hard to be convinced.

Honestly I think the UCLA job is awful, given their financial state and recent history I don’t see how they find a path forward in that conference with those resources.

For VT I’ll entertain the argument about their history or whatever, and I can imagine a path forward for them although I don’t believe it’s realistic or a short one.

Elliott reporting Kam Robinson is practicing with the expectation to play this week. Big news for the defense.

Said Buchanan and Clary are hopefully back this week too

Not surprisingly the line is is being hammered down from 17.5 at opening to 15.5 as of this writing. It may be a bridge too far, but I’d love to see if it can drop to 13.5

~7.7 wins (including the 2 we already have). Which is more than I’d have guessed.

I feel slightly insulted by the Athletic’s rankings.

ODU has played Tech in every season since 2017 (with the exception of 2020-2021). They are 3-4 in the series.

You would have to go all the way back to 1998 to count our last 3 wins in the series…

Maybe we should hire that ODU guy.
