Virginia vs. Virginia Tech, Saturday, 25 Nov, 3:30PM, ESPN

AC has potential to be a good QB and a very good one by UVA standards. But I’ve never worried about him transferring for thst big Middle Tennessee money

Yeah for sure. I’m not trying to say he’s not good. But he’s gonna be UVA good. Not SEC good. If that makes sense.

Welp, it was a longshot to beat Tech from the start of the year. We showed some promise, and TE did enough to keep his job, but next season will determine the future of a lot of people. I think AC is the future if he doesn’t leave, he is still a freshman after all. Virginia Tech fans earn another year of Football ridicule and we begin prayers they get destroyed in basketball.

I honestly don’t remember seeing people saying he would transfer to an SEC school lol. I still think a program like UCF would take him if he entered the portal though (not saying I think he will), even if he looks like shit today. He’s young and fits Malzahn’s scheme.

He should be good for us in the coming years, we just need to put him behind an OL that actually gives him time to scan the pocket and create plays.

I think schools also understand we have an abysmal offensive line and SEC doesn’t always mean Alabam/Georgia.

Why is any of this surprising? We have a bad coach with not a lot of talent in a game where we routinely get destroyed

100% does. Arch Manning couldn’t crack a soon to be SEC lineup

True but mid sec is still better than top ACC. Check the UK Louisville game

Yes, also don’t recall the SEC talk. And agree, plenty of P5 spots for him.

There’s a certain contingent of posters that like to dump on AC though and back the miserable coaching staff. Most of the talk was ongoing when CTE benched him in favor of Tony Muskett.

Let’s not forget that he’s a true freshman, no line or running game and one of the worst OCs in P5.

I’m not dumping on AC just being real. I’m also not shitting on a staff that’s held together a program that shoulda shut itself down a yr ago. The same abysmal staff is responsible for finding the savior that is AC and the savior that is Muskett who brought onnthe biggest win of the season.

Again multiple things can all be true at once

Given AC even cared enough to publicly say he really wanted to beat Tech, I think he has some belief in this program. My hope is today does not cause a shift towards transferring, because whether he is at a bigger school or not, he could most certainly find a school willing to take him.

Staff is abysmal at coaching football and winning games. They behaved admirably after a tragedy and have said the right things publicly. The players that stayed and acted in that moment were also heroes.

Multiple things can be true.

This is me trying to be better going forward.

I think it is really important to keep in mind that the team looked awful before the tragedy last year too. It’s not like this went good football team->tragedy->bad football team. This is really a continuation

Yep. They’re certainly not as bad as I thought a year ago.

Talent evaluation has been better than I thought. But we still don’t have enough talent and the recruiting in the HS ranks is poor for a P5 program.

3 win seasons ain’t gonna cut it. Gotta be bowl eligible next year. Especially if they are dumping money into NIL for transfers this off-season.

Honest question here, as I’m much more of a hoops person, so don’t follow the off-field stuff nearly as much. Is there a legitimate chance TE gets fired this year or too soon into tenure.

Just got in from a late Thanksgiving gathering…first look at the score.

3 win seasons arent acceptable. And i say all of this as someone with skin in the game so I get it. Trust me I get it all.

Navigating last yr doesn’t give the staff or the program a pass.

The way i see it for better or worse the staff and the have never gone at it from a level ground. Next year they have that and they either sink or swim.

I honestly hope not. Would be a bad look for the program and extremely short sighted unless there is a knock out guy lined up.

TE almost certainly has another year based on his contract, the win against UNC and the close losses against UL, Miami, and a couple others. Next year could be his decider though.
