35 years on, and I still have the recurring dream of taking an exam I did not prepare for; I can’t even read the language.

But at least I have clothes on.

I just realized that our game is tonight. Monday holidays always screw me up (usually in a good way)

I think that’s the most common dream (have an exam - didn’t prepare)**

Second most common is watching us miss contested midrange jumpers for the rest of eternity

** maybe not most common, but still common. Interesting article here:

I have one where I dream I redshirted so have another year to play. I then realise I havent played basketball in a year and am not in basketball shape. I then realise practice has been going on for like a week and Coach Jones doesnt even care I am missing. Finally I get to the gym to get to working out and I cant put my shoes on for some reason or one is missing or whatever

Crazy part is there is no panic about me at all through this hahahahah

I’m such a degenerate fan I have a dream occasionally that we’re playing an important game but for some reason I can’t get to a TV to watch and the score on my phone just keeps showing the other team scoring again and again and again lol

Let’s change the topic to our rotation:

How many minutes D-Ro playing tonight?

(I’m sorry … I swear … ok okay, I’m logging off)

Just to be contrary, I’ll predict that D-Ro will be our lead scorer tonight.

If so, I’m claiming it’s because of the nickname

From Chris Arvin, Hokies 247 guy. This is probably a good sign since he’s usually wrong

Prediction

Just like the last game, my prediction hinges on the health of Hunter Cattoor. I am going to take a pure guess he makes his way back for this game and that tilts things in Virginia Tech’s favor. If he is unavailable it feels like there is too much pressure for the Hokies to overcome in a tough environment. Either way, I believe the game should be close as two teams that can have great moments but have underperformed as a whole compared to early expectations. Getting this one will feel big for both sides for a number of reasons and getting an extra shooter gives too many options for the Hokies and they pull it out behind a solid Cattoor return.

Final: Virginia Tech 69 Virginia 62

Like many he doesn’t believe in us. That will continue until we win some games. I do believe being at home should change their calculus, but we shall see.

My thoughts on the game before I commit to trying to work today…

Cattoor being out would obviously be huge. Zero excuses not to win if he’s not able to go. Let’s assume he does though since it’s our luck I’m taking into account…

This VT team even with Cattoor is probably the easiest to guard that we’ve seen in a few years. Mutts killed us and thankfully they don’t have a big with his passing ability. Beekman can keep Pedulla in check and that’s going to be important since as he goes, so does their offense. Stifle him and I think we could seize momentum.

Kidd is a tough matchup but soft. Would like to see some Minor on him to body him up. Keep him out of the paint and he’s ineffective. Not a great passer either but still hope we don’t double with their shooters. Tech has a tendency to get flustered like we do so this is a good game to get home court momentum. Could see a Syracuse type of performance but since it’s a rivalry game, and we haven’t played like that in a month, im expecting a slug fest, butt clencher of a game.

This is a game where we need REECE! He can cook Pedulla and they are really bad at stopping penetration. He needs to take over

We need this game.

A couple of game day complaints that I hope are reversed…

  1. I hope Wahoo fans show up. The attendance is underwhelming. I expect 25-33% Tech fans but hope I’m wrong.

  2. Given another full 10 days, I hope they’ve finally fixed the speakers at JPJ. They are terrible this year and can’t understand a thing.

  3. They’ve run out of programs every home game. My son loves to collect them and we usually have to hunt for one on the ground. I hope they don’t do that again.

  4. call me a loser, but I miss halftime shows. Where are the dogs, the quick change, red panda? Instead we see random 4th years from Nova playing knockout.

Anyway unrelated to performance (or maybe it plays into it) probably not going to renew season tickets. Much cheaper just to buy on the secondary markets and value is perennially decreasing.

I used to have a dream a lot where I could go back to high school for one more year after 4 years of all the summer runs in college against college and pro guys and take all the tricks I learned with me and use em on the unsuspecting high school kids…

Yikes … so you’re saying we’re scoring 34 as a team?

They shut that down after the PED controversy. Last baby to win was a 5 month old with a mustache. She was a cute baby though.

There’s only one thing I know: Pedulla’s pre-puberty chin wisps are going to piss me off all game.
