Grew up a Wake fan before going to UVA (parents went there and Dad played there), and let’s just say the contract buyout was the only reason this took as long as it did. New AD needed time to receive the buyout assurances especially once the pandemic stuff hit.
Two historically bad hires since Gaudio, they have to hit a home run this next hire. Would think that list includes UNCGs Wes Miller (his parents are Wake donors including having his Dads name on the practice facility), Winthrop’s Pat Kelsey (former Prosser assistant), UMBCs Ryan Odom (son of former Wake coach Dave Odom) or Beilein.

No doubt it was a weird process with them very on and off i took an unofficial visit at the end of my jr year. I was in probably my 2nd or 3rd. Visit at the time. Looking back it was lame and I should have known.
For what it’s worth my official and unofficial visit to Uva were the best and included a concert at memgym hanging with Common, guy wielding a knife and a brawl breaking out on rugby road involving a prominent basketball player. One of my favorite nights ever

Lee Garber- played from 81-85. Needless to say this last decade has been rough for the family that still bleeds Black and Gold.
Agreed that Williford would be another good look. Ultimately player development is going to have to be a staple of the program to have any shot at return to success. The ACC is completely different from their late 1990s - mid-2000s hey day, both in terms of quality and depth of programs. High school kids likely don’t even remember the last decent squad.
