Athleticism, he oozes but he’ll probably not be 6-5 or as thick. Brogden was not that athletic initially at UVA. He worked hard!

I dont believe TB is allowing players tu take advantage of their skill set. Im in VA and a top AAU guy said, Every coach in the NCAA would have found a offense or way tu get a talent like Jabri on the court accept TB. TB is not putting players in the best position tu use their talents and succeed. Justin and Casey are the same players. Look how Villanova use Justin. Isolations, pin downs etc. Now look how we use Casey. Running around the perimeter off of base line picks. He is not kyle Guy. Our players can never show they can clear out and create. Our offense is so clogged and bundle up. Its robotic. We need tu have more space and leave Dick Bennett offense in the 90’s. TB need tu hire a TRUE innovative offensive mind coach and get out of the way. Trey Murphy is a 6’9 forward who can handle. Why not isolate him when he has a big on him and let him cook. OR when they have a smaller guy on him. Put him at the high post and have him shoot over the player. Trey is just running around the perimeter taking nothing but jumpers. Why have a kid like Trey and not use what makes him unique. Why is he doing the same thing Sam and Kody are doing. They are not similar players. We show no creativity which lead us tu our most offensive skill team ever, with TB long droughts. I mean its absurd how this team goes on droughts. Especially when you consider who we played. This team should easily avg 72 pts. I mean either every player in TB era are acceptable tu unbelievable offensive droughts OR the team offense is the issue. All I heard was how Sam NEVER misses. All I heard was how his offensive game is the best. Have your seen this player?
Now its early and we will be a good team. But damn, some things shouldn't be an issue for this team and scoring is one of them.

110% this tu. Kirk Penney was maybe a big loss for us. We will be fine this year when its all said and done but some of these hurdles we are seeing are easily preventible. Tony can be very stubborn sometimes, but I love that about him at other times. Double edged sword.

yeah let’s go mano-on-mano and still get beat down the floor for a layup…the defense is a PROBLEM right now.
How many times has UVA held an opponent scoreless for over 6 minutes…too many to count so I guess all those coaches (numerous Hall of Famers) don’t know anything about offense also…come on man!
Tu speak the truth! I could not have said it better. How is Tb utilizing these players strengths? Sometimes it’s frustrating to watch them pass the ball around the perimeter then settle for a less than ideal shot. He needs to loosen up on the offensive side. Casey is a problem if you play him the right way. How do we not have more dribble penetrations? I love TB but why is offense always an issue with talented players? We get mad when top ranked players do not want to come here and play but could you blame them? Have we proven that we deserve those caliber players? Im sorry but when you have trust in players like kehei, kody and not morsell there is something wrong. Give him time to improve and not snatch him out of the game when he makes a mistake. Give your players confidence. I may be overreacting but dang doesn’t our offensive scheme piss you off sometimes? What does everybody else think? PS… put Jabri in the game!!

Great point Tu. Like I was saying earlier, I think some of the slow start of morsell is on the coaching staff not finding a way to utilize guys. How can Morsell drive downhill if McKoy and Huff are clogging the paint? I’d McKoy still a jumper shooter like he was in highschool, or is he leashed to the paint only? Why does Murphy look completely lost on offense?
I think a lot of the defensive issues are due to lack of cohesion with one another and a lack of athleticism at the wing. I think playing more will address the first part, and am hopeful in 21 or 22, TB can get some athletic wings that get after it on the defensive end.
Switch Beeks for Clark and you have a winner…Clarks offense is just not up to standard for a guard that has to bomb from deep due to their height…he should be our defensive specialist for short waterbug types (Lykes at Miami)…first subs Murphy Sheds Justin then let’s see Jabri’s handle before we anoint him to move higher in the pecking order

Stats played 0 minutes against Kent…guess TB trusts him more than Casey…come on man!
Now that I think about it, maybe it was those zero minutes that was the problem in that game.

Was sorta with you unti lthe Jabri thing. Even his dad wanted him to redshirt. He just looks so small and non-muscular when on the court compared to everyone else. He really needs to develop. The lack of Jabri isn’t an issue, and shouldn’t be an issue unless one isn’t familiar with the situation. The way we use Morsell is kinda like the way UNC uses Caleb Love, in that it’s awkward and we really dont. Caleb just has higher usage so he gets more numbers but still. If we wanted Casey and recruited him as such, why not scheme a play for him?
Side note: If Calipari is fired from Kentucky this year, do we hire him as recruiting coordinator? Lol jk. Also we could just make our recruiting coordinator a bag of cash with a tape recorder playing a promise of 10 iso touches a game and it would get the same job done.
5 out offense clogged the middle for these great drivers…key word OUT…I did not see these great drives during that offensive scheme…come on man!
Since people like tu bring up our defense when I mention offense. Answer me this. Did we win our chip run because of our defense OR offense? Did we stop Purdue, Auburn and Texas Tech from scoring OR we outscored them? I will wait.

Nah dont do that. Did we stop those teams from putting up points. Did we have 48 tu 43 games. Were our guys balling and knocking down critical shots. Was the Purdue back n forth the BEST Uva tournanent game ever. KEEP IT REAL. Our guys kept hitting big shot after big shot. We were balling!!!
Yes Hoosteve. I been reading your post the last few days and meant tu reply. You are so right. We effing cut and do a curl in the paint. Just clogging up shit. No space, no isolations, no freedom. Its Robotic. We Have NO Low post scorers but still playing blocker mover. So that mean, defense need tu play the mover because our blockers are not a threat tu post or score.
