William & Mary at UVA football thread

Damn that td puts hope we can win again. And William and Mary is too one dimensional to keep it up, especially when 10 of their points are on UVA miscues.

Hopefully UVA miscues keep it up though. #bringhomecharleshuff

The previous drive was chugging along too, before the fumble. If we could just get out of our own way it so far looks like we should dominate. Not that I’m going to be surprised by any outcome

But in all seriousness, UVA isn’t firing Elliott after this season no matter the result. After last year, and with the buyout, it’s just not happening. I guess I could be wrong, but I would be shocked.

If Harrison just keeps left and runs upfield towards the sideline he probably gets 10 yards. I get wanting to make a big play but take what you can get on special teams.

See? We don’t always fair catch. Sometimes we catch it and run backwards.

He’s not the riverboat gambler that AC is, but I do like Muskett. Quality QB who deserves a better OL.

If you’re watching the same game that I am and you think Muskett is our problem, I don’t know what to tell you. Yes, the fumble was bad. But remind me how many interceptions AC has thrown – or how many games we’ve won with him at QB?

I like Muskett too (think we have two good QBs), but we’ve also won zero games with Muskett, haha. Don’t think that’s the winning argument. But maybe after today?

My god. Has nobody taught Muskett to throw the ball away? That’s multiple deep sacks he’s taken.

Bettridge really bailed out Muskett by making it anyway

Tightly contested game between two FCS powerhouses.

How can you not love college football.

I get the bravado that you have to have as a football fan, especially one actually in attendance. It’s just the nature of the sport, but man, you can look really goofy when that bravado is in cheering for a terrible team that’s been terrible for a long, long time.

That’s my point. I think both Muskett and AC have played well, and we haven’t won. The problems – and the answers – lie elsewhere.

I’m not sure I understand this take. Aren’t fans supposed to support their team? Are they supposed to go to the game but sit on their hands? Shouldn’t you support your team regardless of their record? I would argue continuing to support a team that’s been bad for a long time is a sign of strong moral character.

I mean the consensus from our fanbase, at least from what I’ve seen, is that the blame falls primarily and almost entirely on a combo of the OL and our coaching staff. Our QB play has been good enough to win 2-3 games and we’ve actually got some pretty decent skill players, but we get killed in the trenches along with tons of backbreaking procedural penalties and conservative, vanilla playcalling.

Sure.

In costume and with props and signs saying Hoo’s your daddy? Maybe not.

This o-line is just a disaster. That 3rd down - I mean, nobody stopped anybody. It’s W&M for goodness sake.

Our OL is legitimately lower tier for FCS standards.

This is so painful to watch.
