Winter Recruiting Thread

Yep! #3 would seem to be the issue with most, but it doesn’t stop me from wondering about the other two.

We are also not really pushing for anyone because outside point guard we dont even know our needs yet. And who we will get in the portal this offseason.

Not sure about New York or DC, but Philadelphia Catholic League is a Friday Sunday schedule. So, weekend visits would be hard to schedule. Saturday is a practice day to address issues from Friday night and prepare for Sunday. Coaches would be reluctant to allow a high school senior to “sample the local flavor” between 2 major games.

The California kid that keeps mentioning us. He’s Trey Green’s teammate at Prolific Prep. In my mind he’s the 4th Ball Brother lol. But he’s good. Ill add him (and Larry Johnson) to the original post since he has mentioned us a few times now.

I read an article about Travis Perry today and he said he was going to take some game-day visits this year but wouldn’t say where he was going.. If there’s ever been a team that wants to keep everything secret it’s UVA. Possible?

This past weekend Perry was at Indiana for their win over Wisconsin. In an interview last fall, he did indicate that he wanted to visit Virginia, but little more.

I just don’t see Perry leaving the Midwest.

Hate to say it but Kon has passed the critical threshold into the top 20’s, we ain’t gettin him. While on the pessimist train, Freitag is gonna blow up and go to Tennessee or something. Not a Hoo, especially after adding Dante Harris

Dante Harris is the Kihei replacement. Who is the Ty Jerome/Reece Beekman replacement?

Yep we are leaving it open for a Superstar guard…hopefully Dante doesn’t deter that, but I also hope he is Very good…what to do???…well to me a bird in the hand is the best course of action.

Ty Davis and Larry Johnson? Why not both lol.

I honestly think Reece was supposed to be the Kihei replacement, and we never got a big guard replacement for Ty

Im okay with Kon blowing up and going Duke or staying home at Wisconsin. If we play it right.

Idk if that makes Harris the Reece replacement…? We haven’t landed a big guard who can slide to / play PG since Ty. Missed on a few in 21, don’t remember 22, but 23 I guess Reed Sheppard comes to mind but he was done early.

I’m NOT okay with anybody going to dook and am more annoyed when they waste their talent and then transfer ie: Joey Baker , Jaden Schutt (this year), and TJ Power (next year). We need a DIFFERENCE maker at some of these positions consistently.

We need multiple play making pgs and a wing forward who can get us a bucket when we need it/defensive versatile and rim protectors. (2019 and 2016 teams)

Kon is neither of those. More of a sam hauser type. Nice complimentary piece to have. He can get his own sometimes but at the college level his is going to be dependent on system plays most of his offense (nothing wrong with that, but that’s an establishing the floor kind of player. Not raising the ceiling kind of player). That and I also still think there are a lot of wings who give you shooting and a lot of the other things. 99 in shooting but 30 in other categories, or 85-90 in shooting but 75-90 in the other categories. idk

I got you. I did say that about him several weeks back, but then I got on board with everyone wanting him and decided he would be fine. I have always wanted more dribble drive athletes that can also stroke it, but our “system” is built for the iMacs, Buckets and the Guys of the world, so I guess it depends on what TB is going to change with our system.

I want Kon more than anyone else we’re recruiting. Never want to go without good shooting again.

Wait - you don’t think Kon is that?

I am sorry but in no world is Sam Hauser a nice piece to have and complimentary. Players like Hauser warp spacing in ways that are completely game changing for offenses. Having a guy out there makes life easier for everyone based on the extra space they have to drive, run other actions, etc
