Actually, I firmly believe if that team doesn’t have to go a full week without any practices, they win easily. A positive covid test was the undoing of that edition of the 'Hoos.
It’s jarring to see how bad Villanova is.
Haven’t followed all the ins and outs of this discussion, but I think our natty team is a good model: guys who were awesome on offense and not huge defensive contributors (Ty and Kyle) and guys who were vice versa (Mamadi and Brax and Kihei in a specialist role) combined with a lottery pick who was good/great at both.
You can be relatively short or relatively unathletic at a position or two, if those guys are worth the tradeoffs, but you start to run into issues (ie, “you’re not a natty contender” issues) when you’re doing that 2-3 positions and not getting a worthwhile tradeoff.
Also, sort of unrelated but I want a guy who can get into the lane and finish and create. Basically I want healthy Reece in his 3rd year of college hoops. Isn’t that reasonable?
Ideal for sure ha. I think going forward we get more of that from IMac as well. Oh and you are gonna love Elijah!
First 2026 offer?

Assuming a return to health how do you see Gertrude developing over his first couple years. Get athlete who needs to develop some PG skills and improve his outside shot as well as learn TB’s defense. What should he prioritize?
He’s on John Marshall. Probably going to be a top 10 recruit.
I saw the hokies on VT247 have a thread about John Marshall and how their season is going and one of their mods was “Just want to let you guys know. Latrell Almond? Not happening” (paraphrased of course).
I think he will prioritize getting really good at simpler things like just passing and dribbling more efficiently. As opposed to just relying on athleticism etc to make up for any mistakes. His confidence has sky rocketed in the past year and he is very hungry to learn from TB and staff on beinv more complete with all his natural tools/ gifts
He also will need to be better and more complete on off the ball defense, always in a stance and always playing hard and focused off the ball. I would imagine he will take time to not be lost at times in the packline BUT will be a big time steals guy when it clicks
His 3 point shot is gonna get better and better and he already has a great midrange game with off the dribble and turnarounds etc
Being more compact on his drives and stronger with the ball in traffic etc as well. He is a dream for Mike Curtis and will have to really understand what very hard work is on all fronts.
Edit: all the things you mentioned. He already does impossible things very easily. Needs to tighten up things that are actually easy to do
Thanks so much Fresh. Great info.
You are welcome my man.
I think I read EG is 6’3". All he needs is one more inch to be the same height as the great DT.
I would take the offer to Allmond with a grain of salt. He’s a stud. No doubt if he wanted to commit to UVA or just about anywhere else, that would be great. But haven’t gotten anyone to confirm they offered him yet, so. Doesn’t really matter this far out.
He’s from NC I think. John Marshall is coached by Team Loaded director Ty White. So they’ve had a few of these top Loaded prospects to move there and play for JM.
Reminds me of Jalen Suggs a little bit.
We have ZERO commitments for 2024 so by all means let’s just move on to 2026
Great call. Suggs also amazing football player as well I think
I would like a point guard recruit please. Preferably one who is 6’4 or 6’5 with a nice floater
@Hooandtrue can you give me your PG target floater game power rankings?
And both from Minnesota.
So I define floater as dunked lobs. Soooooo Freitag #1 Bliss #2 Ty Davis #3.
That part I assumed we all knew hahahha. Yea man good point. I still think Suggs was hoop first but played football whereas Freitag seems football guy who also hoops. Special athletes
