QB. I think he would have been a big time FB recruit had he went that path.
Had to watch that twice. Got distracted by all the #1ās beside VIRGINIA the first time around.
I kinda wonder if the Harris addition tilts '24 PG recruiting away from smaller guys. Harris is listed at 6ā0, and that might be generous. You want everybody to be able to play with everybody. Ideally you wouldnāt want the next PG to be small. Freitag and Perry are both listed at 6ā2 on these recruiting sites but I bet Perry is actually 2 inches taller.
Suggs was a 3 star, top 400 QB on 247. Highly sought after prospect but not the blue chip status he was in BB coming out of HS.
@Hooandtrue power ranking of PGs from Idaho, North Dakota, New Zealand, Alaska and Guam?
Definitely something to consider, though I think Freitag is the type of athlete who could adequately guard 2ās if we needed him to. I still think a bigger lead guard is a necessity regardless though, and if it comes down to choosing between a small PG and a big PG the latter is a more pressing need in 2024 (so long as they can shoot).
Thats right. Cause he was always hoops first
How much if that ranking was because everyone knew he was committed to basketball.
There are a lot of folks who think Jay Woolfolk should have been a 4 star top Qb recruit. but the word was no one thought he would even play football.
Hah. Commented the same thing before I saw this. ![]()
Hahaha. There it is. Must be nice being elite elite athletes and choosing what pro sport you wanna pursue hahaha (or atleast college sport)
All the talk of two-sport athletes reminds me of Matt Blundin, one of the highest-ranked QBs coming out of high school who instead chose to concentrate on basketball,. He was a solid power forward for the 'Hoos, but not nearly the star he could have been in football. He knocked around the NFL as a backup for a few years, but I think most people agree he could have been an NFL starter if he had concentrated on football.
(In fairness, he was backing up Shawn Moore for three years, so not sure how much playing time he would have gotten even if he didnāt play basketball.)
Just looked him up. Senior year 19 TDās 0 INT
Set the NCAA record for most completions no Interceptions that year (i am almost positive this is correct)
Originally was going to Penn State but Paterno said no basketball. Coach Holland and Welsch I guess agreed he could play both.
For sure if Shawn wasnt the starter and legend QB Mattys football career may have been very different, say if he was a starter for 3 years and had to focus on the football side etc
Man Iām tired of Tennessee. As a matter of fact Iām tired of all of these bordering states taking the Virginia talent. We need to lock down Virginia like Purdue is doing in Indiana. Either that or we need to take recruits from these states as well including: Tennessee, North Carolina, Marylandā¦and even though Indiana doesnāt border Va we should recruit there more as there are some ballers there (ie: Purdueās Point Guard) and of course Our Guy- El Guy- Kyle Guy.
Frei-gone play football
Itās someoneās job to set up those stupid lights so kids can get those stupid pictures taken. We are so fucked, in a broader sense than usual.
