Elijah

I’m working on a nickname for him. As in ā€œif you wait for the zag it’s too late, he’s gone by you.ā€

From a connected poster (over the years) on Buckyville.

UVA visit went well. McAndrew (no offer, just on our radar) considering Creighton (parents are alums there). Freitag torn between football and bball

seem to be underlying it a bit haha.

Wow - if we win this one, can we give an assist to the Port Authority for their multi-year $8 billion renovation of LGA? No way a kid and fam are getting stuck in old LGA and calling it a home run.

Maybe they magically made their connection? Hoo knows

For some reason I am really rooting for Freitag to be great. But I really think he should play football

Will be happy to be wrong if be becomes a big time hooper somewhere

Freitag’s issue is his height. Less of an issue in bball with his wingspan. Smarter choice is to come to UVa and develop into an NBA ready PG.

You mean as a WR?

Same poster did add ā€œ850 miles away is still a sticking pointā€ for why he hasn’t completely given up on Kon to Wisconsin. I think @HoozGotNext has alluded to it as well that staying close to home isn’t the end all be all, but it is a factor.

Like how UCLA wasn’t even in consideration at the end for Milan cause he wanted to stay midwest. Dont think that is as strong with Kon though.

Aren’t there a lot of 6/6’1 Corners and safetys? I think he’s being recruited as an ā€œathleteā€ in football but the Notre Dame offer seems to be coming from the defensive staff.

Maybe as a DB it works - I’ve seen his height as 6-1 or 6-2, but depends on the real measurable. He plays WR.

Also, on the economics, bball is the much better choice. Higher floor for a longer career and $.

But way less jobs unless you count GLeague and Europe maybe?

Including all of the overseas opportunities - can make a very good living.

I am definitely not an expert, but I’d probably argue the opposite given all the overseas opportunities now. Football players who don’t make the NFL have almost nowhere to go. There’s practice squads and Canada, and that’s it.

I mean, when I did a weird deep dive on Jason Cain of all dudes, he was apparently still playing professionally until just like two years ago or so. He was solid for UVA, but I’d bet nobody thought he’d have a decade long pro run (albeit in some interesting and likely very low-paying leagues). Feel like an equivalently talented football player would have had to hang it up way further back, plus they would have had a much higher chance to have sustained a career ending injury at some point.

Plus, I’d take G League over being an on NFL practice squad. At least based on what I know of them.

Fresh will stand down then. But also, from what I see, Freitag is a football player that likes to hoop and is good at it some

Like Charlie Ward, who made a pretty penny in the NBA after his Heisman.

Imagine how much he would make in todays NFL as a QB? Timing man and Charlie did sneak in a solid NBA career and lotta loot

I think all else equal, the hoops career is the way to go. Longer career, less chance for long term injuries, etc. But in Freitag’s case, I think all else is not equal. He plays hoops like a football player. I have no idea what he looks like when he plays football, of course. There’s something, like stiff about him, or whatever. He could be a very good college hoops player, but I don’t know about pro career… (from my, of course, expert NBA draft prognosticator eyes)

Of course at UVa Mike Curtis would could change all that!
