Brazil-Morocco feels a little off to me but what do I know
I’d agree… Morocco’s current form is top 10 in the world based on their results, even higher ranked than the USA & Germany, but I still think I would put money on Brazil boat racing them. It’s why you play the games!
So the lopsided predictions are not coming to fruition. ![]()
Lucked into some tickets for the match last night, 1/4 of face value. Had a fantastic night with my buddy from San Diego. Planned to drive there from Tucson and watch some games on TV, but got these tickets and took the train up to LA. Fantastic atmosphere and really a great performance by the US. Stadium is pretty special. Go USA!
Curaçao just scored to tie Germany 1-1 at the first hydration break. Amazing!
Yeah… even though Germany came back to curb stomp them… the German media will have a field day with that one.
Indiana won college football. Sam Darnold won the Super Bowl. The Knicks won the NBA. The Hurricanes won the NHL. This year makes no sense. A random team is winning this World Cup. Why not us?
That Cape Verde result… OMG. They almost scored on their only corner kick at the end there. Amazing!
Also… the Japan equalizer last night… dude had no idea he had scored. He was trying to get out of the way. Haha!
I love WC matches like CV vs ESP. Against all odds, underdog manages a tactical 0-0 draw. Some Americans are like, “But nothing happened. What’s the point?” The point *is* the point! It’s a lesson our country needs to learn: Sometimes a tie is a win.
At the Belgium - Egypt game. First of three games over the next couple weeks.
The prices suck but this a very well run event. Fans for both countries are loud. Only downside is that the 12 o’clock kick meant we had to start drinking at 9. ![]()
“downside”?
I see no downside in this.
Very hopeful the crowd there will be a big advantage for the US Friday.
How long will the European teams not performing any better than other continents continue? Just a small sample size fluke? Or is the rest of the world catching up?
Give me the run down - I’m headed to Egypt Iran in two weeks. where should I go pre match to drink? And other spots in the city good to watch matches not in Seattle?
Joe Bell playing right now for NZ
Happy to help now that the cobwebs have shaken loose. ![]()
Before the game yesterday we hung out for a few hours at Victory Hall, which is very close to the stadium. It’s a gigantic indoor/outdoor space and fit several thousand people comfortably. There were several food trucks outside in its courtyard, large watch areas both inside and out, and decent prices on drinks. The Belgin contingent started their march to the stadium from there so it had a really good atmosphere. World Soccer Championship | Match Day Live at Victory Hall | The Boxyard Seattle Washington
There are sponsored fan zones across the city. The main ones are in the area north of the stadium and near Pike’s Market at Pier 62. We hung around the stadium yesterday and it was a good atmosphere–traffic was shut down and there were TVs set up to watch the games, street soccer fields set up, etc. There are also plenty of bars and restaurants open in that area that will have the game on.
We’re watching the Mexico game at the Pier on Thursday but we walked by it over the weekend and it looked cool. Seattle Soccer Celebration at Pier 62 | World Cup Watch Parties & Waterfront Fan Events
We watched the US-Paraguay game at Pacific Place, which is a small mall where FIFA has rented a large event space. It was wide open, not too crowded, and in addition to the TVs throughout the space, they also were projected the game on large screens in front of the mall’s elevator bank.
Finally, we’re staying in the Ballard neighborhood, which is brewery central. Some have TVs and some don’t, but there is a lot of good beer in a short walking distance if that’s your thing. Have fun!
Inject this post into my veins. Thank you!
Messi. 6th World Cup. Goal. 1-0 Argentina 1-0 Algeria HT. Amazing.
Scored twice - one disallowed
