2021 Basketball Recruiting

While it’s logical I don’t think it’s the best move. There is something substantial to be said about building a brand at Duke. The track record for players going to non-P5 conferences has been rough from a branding perspective. Mitchell Robinson at WKU immediately comes to mind, and that’s before we dive into the Makur Maker debacle. There is something to be said for appearing on ESPN in essentially every game you play in

Someone in the comments said its Duke.

Lol, that was his surprise prediction. Poor Jake is trying real hard to get that paysite to take off

With the pandemic uncertainty, is their any chance Taine Murray never comes to UVA? Seems like next season still has the potential to be a mess with Covid variants, and he has a solid setup currently, wonder if he has considered signing on as a pro with his current club.

The person in the comments was just guessing he doesn’t really know.

Jake’s prediction

The prediction:

As for his recruitment, Keels has been down to his final three of Duke, Virginia, and Villanova. I made a prediction in mid-November in favor of the Duke Blue Devils landing his talent. I have decided that I will remain with that prediction as I believe that Coach K and Duke will land the five-star prospect.

There’s rumblings that UVA is more hopeful lately. Sense is Duke is slipping, and that’s who they’ve always seen as the team to beat. Personally, I think they’re underestimating Villanova in the equation a little bit. And if Duke doesn’t get Baldwin, they’re going to pull out every stop for Keels.

Kentucky has entered the Keels chat

This isn’t that surprising. Kentucky has always been lurking around. And there’s definitely a window of opportunity open now with Duke looking a little weak.

Tony should do a zoom conference call with Keels SKJ and Johnny Juzang to discuss the Kentucky experience.

PS…a UVA source predicted the Kentucky offer this afternoon. So yeah they knew UK was in the picture.

I mean it’s Villanova until proven otherwise right? The playtime pros that Kentucky and Duke can offer with the development pros UVA can offer. Unless our guards are deemed not a threat for playing time then we also enter that playing time pro.

I wonder if Casey not exactly taking the next step is a positive or negative with Keels? He could probably walk in and start, but does he or his circle blame UVa for Casey’s struggles?

That’s also my take. Until I am given reason to believe otherwise I am counting Keels as Nova bound. In addition to what you laid out they have a strong history of recent success with DMV kids.

They are not a threat to Keels, in his mind.

Yes and yes!

Could you say the same about Slater for Nova?

I think the comparison is Justin Moore and Casey Morsell. Same class and Casey was ranked higher. Of course rankings mean very little in terms of development path and it’s not like Casey hasn’t developed. He’s struggling with mental block of some sorts.

Moore was slightly higher in the RCSI composite. He also started on Team Takeover while Casey was 6th man. That being said they tied for WCAC player of the year (with sophomore Keels) and were close enough to be easily compared.

Not that Casey has done anything but watching Justin Moore I’m not impressed at all. He’s just a spot up shooter who is shooting 32% from 3.

Disagree he is only a spot up shooter. Think he has a more well rounded offensive game than that from my viewing and his 3% is 37% career and significantly higher than Casey’s.
