This wait has to be excruciating for the players. Can’t take visits, vastly reduced AAU events, season uncertainty…as difficult as it is for us, these kids must be going a little crazy.
Would be nice to get a Keels decision soonish but I’m not counting on it. Reid certainly not. I will say I loved the virtual visit part of the Keels interview. Those details are straight out of UVA’s playbook/presentation. UVA is unique in that they’re not afraid to pick apart a recruit’s game and tell him why their program is the best for his development. They’ll pull no punches as opposed to some other programs who simply put recruits on pedestals. Bennett is genuine and that shines through in every recruitment. UVA is just different in how they do things and it’s not for everybody.
How are you doing? I read on the 247 board that you were struggling with COVID previously and I know you lost a few friends recently. How are you doing both physically and mentally?
I also saw you were out and about at some AAU events recently (or workouts). Any new prospects we should keep an eye out on or chitter chatter about UVA (like how others talk about their interactions with our staff)?
I follow Mich recruiting heavily and it’s looking like they’re now going all in on Warley or Frankie Collins for their PG spot. Think Keels is a longshot for them.
Just my opinion but no need for this type of post on this board. You can always choose to read or not read any post by any poster. Some of us like to hear all points of view on recruiting. Thanks for your consideration.
I agree with you, fresh. It’s like the old saying “hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard” don’t get me wrong the right tutelage is definitely important but it all boils down to how much you’re willing to work towards your craft
thats my experience over all my time playing and watching. it is not a diss at kids saying it but we all hope they realise who has to put the work in wherever they choose
Glad Doug said this. it’s an interesting debate. Fans give too much credit to college programs for player development, I believe. But I also think basketball people, especially in the grassroots side of it, give too little. There’s no doubt certain programs have players that improve more during their time. But is it really their doing exactly, the culture? Is it that they do a better job of choosing players that will work hard?
Speaking of development…Deandre’s physical transformation was somewhat expected with Mike Curtis, but damn if it’s still not impressive. Say what you will about the system fit at UVA but over his 3 years he became a monster. It’s a running joke that every school “has the best strength and conditioning staff” in the country but in UVA’s case, it might be true. I hope that it’s noticed by guys like Keels and Kaufman. I can tell you it wasn’t lost on Jay Huff, Kadin Shedrick, and Trey Murphy.
See this is a great point. Curtis has told me how challenging it is for him to do his job due to NCAA constraints on time which he follows. Love that he gets the credit he does and this is a great trait of the CEO or head coach. Let guys like MC do what they do.
Would personally be ecstatic over a class of Reid (C/PF), Kaufman (SF), and Keels (2G). Remember a video of Kaufman a couple of months ago mentioning a vertical jump that was very impressive.
Remind me what his post or my reply had to do with “views on recruiting?” The post that I responded to was, as usual, mocking a board for knowing nothing from a guy who’s pretty desperate for the adulation of the people he mocks.
If it was a “point of view on recruiting” I wouldn’t have responded. His post was his point of view on you and a lot of other posters here so anxious to grovel, abuse the English language and type like a 12 year old girl texts…all tu B accepted by the guy hu is mocking dem. Just keeping it real yo.
In the times we are living in, I really hope we can keep the hate and anger off of this board. We all come to recruiting forums for different reasons but a common one is to escape negativity unrelated to sports.
I hope everything else in life is fine for you during these tough times.
If only. Some people Just can not help themselves. I think we’re very fortunate that 99% of these threads stay on topic and don’t have that kind of unnecessary calling out of other posters crap in them.
