He seems a lil fired up in his press conference. More so than I can really ever recall
Is there a link?
Will be good for the 2022s and the veterans (and all the transfer we add too of course)

My takeaway, if the first years can play, they will play. Playing time is abundantly available.
You have to say stuff like that as a coach, I guess, but I donāt get a ādoesnāt work hardā vibe from this crew. I just get a ānot that goodā vibe.
āWelcome to the new age of college basketballā TONY ENTER THE TRANSFER PORTAL ARMS RACE. Do it. lol jk but maybe not.

I think the eye test should get more weight if, and itās a big IF, you get to evaluate them against a competition level that allows an objective evaluation. Example, Isaac M has generally played against a lower level of competition in WV, but he is so clearly superior athletically and skill-wise, I can project him in the ACC (to a certain extent, same with Isaac T, but harder to judge positionally). Second example, I watched clips of Taine and thought heād be a star. My eyes deceived me because the competition, even at the level he was playing at abroad, just isnāt good enough to judge his physical and skill dominance. I think he ends up as a miss as he isnāt a plus athlete at the ACC level, but if he stays and works this summer (something Iāve harped on) maybe he can overcome those limitations with basketball smarts (I do believe he has skills that can be further developed).
I do think advanced metrics help at the team level more than individually and I would really weigh those in my evaluation situationally in-game and in setting line up rotations and minutes as a season progress.
But again, Iām a fan with an opinion, not a coach or recruiter.
Now this is good news. Canāt wait to hear reports of how the young players are doing.
Pessimist in me says Kihei definitely stays now for the free trip abroad lol
Taine looked great in those NZ clips, but it was clear that was terrible competition. He didnāt play at all in the NBL, which was hard to read. Seems those developmental guys rarely play, and even full players like RJ Hampton and Lamelo didnāt exactly tear it up as 18 year olds
The game that gave me the most hope was the Aus-NZ FIBA game. Aus didnāt have its best guys, but Dyson Daniels played and heās lotto. Taine was on the inefficient side but he was a credible scorer.
But anyway, your basic point is that itās hard to project to the ACC level. I completely agree
Wasnāt that hard to read
Youāre a good reader, I guess. Congrats.
You should provide some prospective reads so we can all benefit from this stuff.
Kihei can still go on the trip if he wants and not play next year. At least thatās what I remember Gill saying CTB told him.
Rules may have changed over the years.
