2022-23 Out of Conference (non-ACC / non-UVa)

Lord, the boards go crazy if he was a hoo. He’d get little time with Tony

Michigan falling to iowa which is quite poor for our resume

Lol! Imagine it, Reed decommits from KY, opts for Tony instead, instantly gets the redshirt

Do we have room for Reed at this point…? Do we take a decommit unproven college player who is kind of a transfer in that situation? I dont know

Worry not. Reed Sheppard aint coming here. He’s a Wildcat and he’s staying a Wildcat whether Cal gets canned or not.

Yep. Why would he not stay at UK

Tony Bennett: “yes”

From a rupps rafter’s thread where a poster claims a top secret source within the KY basketball program has informed him that Cal has already decided he’s leaving after this season.

Not that that board is known for rational thought or deep insight, but this poster makes a good point. It’s KY he loves. Not a coach.

Yes that makes sense. I will know before most on Cal but not my business to share ha

Cal staying making it a toxic situation is our only hope at Reed. He’s 100% staying if Calipari leaves, heck they will celebrate in the household.

Anyone watch the end of that Gonzaga v. BYU game? Damn… BYU choked that one away… the inbounds turn-over KILLED them with about a minute left… plus they missed the front end of a 1-&-1.

Remember BYU did same/ similar against Zags 2 years ago I think? Were up big and literally gave it away (the year Gonzaga was really good)

Butler beats Villanova.

I forget who (it might have been @AdventiveQuasar or someone else) who said that Cam Whitmore coming back for nova helps them but they still aren’t that great.

After having to read thousands of “Man Virginia is a one hit wonder/Tony Bennett is a low ceiling coach who got lucky one year/why would anyone play for Virginia/Virginia is on a downward trend and didn’t even make the tournament. Things are in trouble in Charlottesville” takes from the Villanova board it’s nice to see things come full circle.

Disclaimer: to be fair these are also things we read on UVA message boards. And there is a contingent who appreciate the similarities between Wright and Tony B in running their program.

Numbers from Torvik:

Without Whitmore: 2-5, #173, #48 O/#313 D

With Whitmore: 6-5, #63, #48 O/#111 D

Better, but not close to where their expectations were coming into the season.

The Nova fans who consistently referred to their BBall program as a blueblood prior to this season are eating a whole lot of humble pie right now.

I guess, but if anything the team performances after retirements of Roy, Coach K, and Jay Wright should be a big sign that blue blood or not, when your storied coach retires, you are in for it - not matter how many 5 stars ya got. We should be mentally prepared for that when Tony says adios.

Tennesse up 8-0 on Kentucky at first TV timeout. Reed Sheppard Watch continues.

We’ll Tennessee is heavily favored no?

Yes. Getting blown out will still cause a ruckus amongst kentucky fans.

Most frustrating part about the “Kentucky and Cal are terrible/Reed Sheppard” situation is reading RuppsRafters and seeing that they know if Cal goes, Sheppard is the only recruit they’ll probably keep. And then reading the same board complain that a Reed Sheppard led team would be NIT bound at best.

I know your parents are legends there, but that time is gone. Have fun playing for that shitty fan base Reed.
