Yep … here’s the one that replaced the CIT recently … no pay to play other than giving up your home revenue for the game.

The Basketball Classic field will be announced after the field for the NIT is released on March 13. The tournament will begin on Monday, March 14 with the semifinals scheduled for Tuesday, March 29th and the Championship Game on Thursday, March 31st.

Each game of the Basketball Classic will be held on the campus of one of the participating schools. All gate receipts will be collected by the Basketball Classic, enabling a wider range of schools to participate. Schools can host Classic games without the responsibility of an additional financial commitment.

Which CBI or whatever tourney was it UVA played in that one year? I think it was Singletary’s senior year. Was kinda depressing.

CBI. Pretty sure we turned down an invite to the NIT too. Took a Singletary steal in order to beat I think Richmond, and then we got blown out by Bradley.

Thank god we landed Tony after Leitao, would prefer we never go back to those years.

Ugg you just reminded me of a very dark time in Virginia basketball history. I was so pissed they went to the CBI. Actually brought that up to Singletary when I spoke with him a few weeks ago, how sad I was about that team.

I couldn’t even find those crappy CBI games on TV at the time. Listened on the radio. Dark times.

Always good to be reminded that road games in conference play are unforgiving.

Just noticed that Muss decided to burn Nick Smith’s redshirt this past weekend. SMH… way too late in the season for that.

why?

I guess you get some extra help for the stretch run, but what about Nick Smith’s 5th year? And all the good weightlifting work he could be doing?

He’s already played 5 games, but if he didn’t why would it be too late for a #22 NET team?

He played 5 games already? Dang, there goes the joke…

Purdue is a little overrated and I don’t think they get past to the S16. They play 2 freshman guards and I wouldn’t trust that tourney time.

I’m sure if they became healthy we wouldn’t want Carmelo or Zion or Vince Carter or Kevin Durant for a stretch run?
Smith was the #1 recruit in the nation… I suspect they are better with him?
I may be wrong though.
