I basically agree, but, kind of a tangent. I just watched a couple videos on Lil Peja, and I’m not exactly blown away.
Finkelstein’s eval is not exactly glowing, even though he’s rated very high. Andrej Stojakovic, Illinois, Small Forward (basic summary: he’s got good size, and he might grow, and he can make shots, but he’s not that strong or explosive and he needs to get bigger and his handle might not be that great. And he shot poorly in AAU last year. But they still have him rated #17 in the nation? )
Is the fact that he didn’t play AAU this summer a bit of a flag? He played Pangos and I guess the scholastic live period?
He’s not a OaD, not sure if his dad or camp thinks he is but that’s kinda what makes him so enticing. If he were willing to come here and stay for an extra year I think he’d be a stud 2nd year player for us once Curtis was able to get a full offseason with him. It’s an incredibly unlikely hypothetical but if by some miracle he has interest in that plan then you obviously wouldn’t turn him down.
@HoozGotNext, or anyone else, is the staff looking at any front court prospects in the class of 2023? It seems to me that if Caffaro elects not to return for a sixth year, there will be depth issues up front. Admittedly, I have no idea of the plans Coach Bennett has for Ryan Dunn, but is a late developing big man (or, project) from the 2023 class a better option than mining the transfer portal for a “big” who wants a back up role? Or, do they think that Shedrick, Traudt, Buchanan, and, maybe, Dunn will be adequate? Just a wee bit curious.
