Just one subjective data point but The Athletic’s rankings last week had Purdue at #50 and JMU at #63.

Michigan State athletics as a whole needs to do some internal reflection on the rape culture there. Feels like every coach there is in some way or another involved in a cover up or a scandal, etc. etc.

Not sure what reality you’re living in to believe that Disney is going to voluntarily pay the ACC more money that they’re not contractually obliged to pay.

Why dont you inform all of us about what reality is? And by the way has ESPN ever done a look in regarding a review to see if the ACC warrented anymore revenue??
Doesn’t matter. ESPN is in the midst of massive budget cuts. The odds of them voluntarily giving anyone more money is zero.

Money is no longer free. It has all changed. Rates at 50bps it doesnt matter. Rates at 5% they have to actually pay attention

Exactly ESPN is losing cash left and right and their owners are slashing budgets across the board. Any dollars given out are gonna have to be earned and Igor will fight to keep every buck in the mouses hand

I dont think ESPN would voluntarily give it. It would have to be earned. Mike Lewis (mickysurf) indicated that a look in was done by ESPN not to long ago .. and that there was no real increase in viewership and no increase in revenue was warrented. He seemed to have solid information.
I have no allussion that at this point we could compete with the SEC or the BIG. But i was left with the impression that there is room for SOME improvement if the product on the field can draw more eyeballs.

We live in a world where Disney is actively trying to divest itself of ESPN and ABC because they’re not profitable enough. ESPN is facing declining revenue from the acceleration of cord cutting rapidly reducing their carriage fee income. Cable companies are fighting back and refusing to pay as much to carry ESPN’s networks. ESPN is laying off massive numbers of employees to cut costs. They already passed on trying to be the top bidder for the PAC-12 and B1G contracts. They refused to give the SEC more money for a 9th conference game.
And you think they’ll voluntarily pay the ACC more money because of a few more eyeballs out of the goodness of their hearts? And if they don’t pay anything more than obligated, the ACC will do what? Threaten to take their business elsewhere in 2036?

Im still looking for the comment where somebody said that ESPN would ‘voluntarily’ increase revenue to the ACC. The only possibility of that happening would be if the product on the field provided and oppurtunity for that. And still it may not would happen.

Late breaking Sun night. The UNC Board of Trustees on the spur of the moment called for an emergency meeting for Monday ‘regardings an athletics matter’. It was reported by ON3. ON3 speculated that could be related to a football transfer that was denied a waiver for immediate eligibility. Or conference realignment. Just passing it along …
