Kinda sucks that it seems like the recent smoke from all Ive heard is UVA to $EC when the fit in the B1G just makes too much sense in all facets of the game.

SEC fans are absolutely miserable. Just a conference full of NC State people. Can’t wait.

I preferred the B1G before they expanded to the west coast. At this point, above all else, I’d prefer the more compact SEC footprint over sending our kids to play midweek conference games in LA and the PacNW (not to mention Iowa or Nebraska or Minnesota).

Kindaa like how we are re-inventing cable with all these stream packaging bundles, I wonder if the big 2 (B1G and SEC) once they’ve absorbed enough team divide themselves into regional conference… lol

I know the SEC loves chanting S-E-C and cheering for other conference teams, but how far does that go? For instance, were other SEC fanbases happy that Alabama got in the playoff? Was Auburn?

The ACC doesn’t really do that. I know we would be pissed if VT snuck into a playoff, and all ACC fans would be pissed if Duke basketball did something similar.

This idea seems to be gaining some traction. A merger of the ACC and the Big 12. Could be a game changer ..

“Virginia wants to take VT”

If we change conferences and tech comes with and it’s because we wanted to bring them, that’ll be the day my interest in college sports officially dies.

Why would you believe anyone who is pushing for a 30+ school conference full of mediocrity as a better option than what exists now? Quantity of schools isn’t solving the problems of the 3rd and 4th “power” conferences.

Quantity over quality does provide a way forward for Alot of schools. I still doubt the SEC or Big 10 are looking to get much bigger than 20 (tops 24). Leaves a lot of fan interest on the table if you consolidate what is left and put together 8 or 9 team regional pods (like old school conferences). It won’t get you four seats at the new 12 team playoff, but it will keep fans interested and tuned in.

It also lets you renegotiate the TV deal

Yes and it ensures the Dukes and Baylors of the world a place at the table.

Yep and that’s about all they can hope for. This hypothetical mega conference is really just a pool of several regional conferences that comprise the second tier of Division 1 athletics. It’s not a bad solution, beats playing in the AAC or taking the Big East route and trying to figure out what to do with football.

Ive heard a couple sports pundits suggest adding Oregon St and Washington St to the mix. Create regional pods to reduce travel cost. Four pods of 8 teams apiece. Pod winners face each other for a semi-final play- off. And the 2 winners play for the Conference Championship.

That’s not my idea but its what is being floated ..

A Duke QB becoming a ND QB doesn’t make you dislike him before the video? It’s the video that does it? SMH.

Hah meant to say dislike him more. I didn’t like him at Duke the hype he got before the ND made me sick. Then he up and goes to ND and I rolled my eyes. Then I saw the video and it was over. I’m out.
