It’s not really ‘UVA wants to take VT’ it’s the Virginia state legislature is going to try to use the interest in UVA to get VT a spot in one of the two conferences too. Tbh I really don’t care what happens to the Hokies. If we have to bring them along to assure our spot, so be it. If they get left out that’s cool too. Only scenario that concerns me is a potential UVA move getting blocked by Richmond because VT doesn’t have a seat at the table

If AG Miyares’ Twitter feed on JMU and Liberty football and Basimile at VCU is any indication, he’ll be a problem if this comes soon.
All he can do is rattle sabers, like the California AG, but noise is still noise, and pressures our BOV.

Tech getting the band back together for next year it appears. Very little roster turnover and a very easy schedule means expectations will be sky high in Blacksburg.

I always go back to the question of who would spend the time and money to lobby politicians to block UVA from leaving if there’s no tangible benefit for VT to do that. Money is more likely to flow from UVA supporters because there’s a positive benefit from moving.
Also, actively hurting UVA potentially costs votes from UVA supporters whereas letting UVA go probably doesn’t cost votes from VT supporters.
When in doubt, follow the money.

Eh. In CA, UC Berkeley and the Board of Regents absolutely went out of their way to knife UCLA in the back and try to scuttle their deal with the B1G even though realistically there was nothing they could get out of it.

Howell already got demoted. Clark Lea was going to run the defense himself. I’d think P5 DB coach makes more than New Mexico coordinator, but might as well work where you’re comfortable.

Broncos attachment to Anae I understood. He made some questionable play calling decisions but also put together some really good offenses. His loyalty to Howell is astounding

Howell wasn’t hired to be the DC. He was hired to be the DB coach and then got promoted when DC Minter went to Michigan in February. Guess by that point on the calendar pickings are slim.
