Yeah, Anae made some insane decisions, but it was obvious the guy was a legit mad scientist who occasionally created something spectacular. Its not the direction I would have chosen to bet my chips, but it was understandable.
Howell has been a trainwreck just about everywhere.

Which makes me wonder does Bronco convince Anae to move west again and lure him away from NC State. He wasn’t able to duplicate his success reuniting with BA and I believe their first year who played a good amount hit the portal. The few NC State contacts I have are “meh” at best on him so I’m not sure there is a long leash in Raleigh should he stay.

He would be taking a pay cut of about 600K. He makes 900K at NC State, New Mexico’s last coordinators were making around 300K.

Armstrong was damned good when he got the starting spot back.

70% completion percentage for 650 yards, and 207 on the ground at a 4.6 ypc clip. Eight TDs. And no INTs.
They found the magic at the end of the season.
Morris was serviceable 60% for 650 yds. 7 TDs 5 INTs. But only 15 yds on the ground, without a TD.
They were 3-1 and averaged 23.8 per game.

Yeah, I’m still on Team Beck, but Cuse’s offense after the first couple games did not do much to reward my faith.

Rehiring Howell at DC is a major red flag to me. Dude should not have a coordinator position at the FBS level given his recent track record, that reeks of nepotism.
I do think Beck will do well though, I know his time at Cuse didn’t end great but still believe he has a bright future.

Easier to recruit LDS kids to New Mexico than it was to Virginia.
Hiring a bunch of LDS assistants will help there too.

Agree I’m bit as anti-Beck.
Just found it interesting Bronco is essentially running it back. I thought usually when coaches step away like he did they find new inspiration and come back reinvented. Or if they do put the band back together it was a good bamd at least

Yeah but there has to be another guy out there Bronco could’ve poached to be his DC. Howell has quite literally produced three of the worst defenses in the country the past three seasons.

He didnt get Howell because he wanted a tie into the LDS community. Bronco is a known commodity in that circle and if anything he would hire a Poly guy if he wanted to really ingratitude himself.
You’re right Howell has no right being a coordinator. Has 0 track record of success

Bronco struck me as a guy who talked about introspection a lot but never seemed to engage in it much. Whenever something went wrong, it was always someone else’s fault – so there was no need for him to change anything he was doing.
