2023 ACC Football Offseason & Coaching Carousel

Our HS offense was pretty much 3 yards and a cloud of dust. I think most of the time we lined up 1 WR and we threw under 10 passes a game.

It definitely was not a modern offense, even for the early 90s.

Wait … are you all talking about the Tennessee game which is being played in the state of Georgia?

The UGA game got canceled in 2020. Hoos have UT here in Atl I believe in the Chick fil a

If we don’t win the W&M game, we’re in a whole heap of trouble. Sure, they made the FCS playoff semifinals and went 11-2, but again, that’s FCS with 65 scholarships and unless I missed some huge news, Mike London is still their coach.

After that, we’re probably in the 35-65% chance of winning the GT, VT, JMU and @BC games. Split them and that’s 3 wins. Probably less than 35% chance on the other 7 games, but maybe we steal one.

That’s my best case hopeful scenario. Worst case is that the Tennessee game demoralizes us so much that we drop JMU, then lose to @Tua’s little brother and Brennan and the season’s shot before we even have a chance to recover against @BC and W&M. Then we have the @UM and @UNC stretch before we have a winnable one vs GT. Then the closing stretch @UL, Duke and VT after we’ve given up on the season. That’s the nightmare scenario.

Agreed… do you remember Todd Weingard? Think he was your year. He was the starting running back and went to West Point…

He told me they only had four plays… Power 40 Right, Power 40 Left, Sweep Right, Sweep Left… it was up to him to find the holes.

That’s essentially the logic I used to get to 4.5 as the O/U. Optimistic? sure but about as logical as any other option.

Sounds like my HS team, we ran Power I and I don’t think ever had a QB over 5’8. At one point my senior year we racked up like 2k yards on the ground and 100 yards through the air through the first 4 games.

Ha, are Arden and tugard over there?

I still think Solomon Tat and Chezley Watson would have been great on the gridiron!

the Tennessee game is in Nashville (i.e., why people are saying it’s effectively a home game for them). it’s just a generic neutral-site opening weekend game, not the formal chick-fil-a kickoff (which is Louisville vs Georgia Tech… woof).

Gotcha. Not sure why I thought they were coming back to the Atl, and yea NashVegas definitely going to be a home game for the Vols. Better get your track shoes ready.

I think we all just Mandela effect-ed each other

Todd was a year ahead of me. Had a few classes with him. Really nice dude. Played fullback his junior year blocking most of the time. I remember asking him about Ken Oxendine after we played Thomas Dale. I can’t remember exactly what he said, but the comment was something to the effect that he felt it more the day after that game when Oxendine tackled him than other games.

Funny thing (at least to me) is that his oldest kid just started at USNA. My oldest kid just started Kg.

Nice… Todd’s dad was a retired Air Force Colonel… he commissioned me into the Air Force in New Cabell Hall and his brother David was in my class.

Any chance we could grab this guy to run our offense before he outgrows us? William & Mary has the most creative offense in CFB. Here’s what you might be missing - The Athletic

I would grab the guy at Lipscomb, or Gabe Cupps’ dad… gonna read this, thanking you

Whoops this is football!

Had my eye on him from afar. He’s one of those situations I’m curious to watch play out. Generally speaking I’m not a fan of gimmicked offense and don’t think they work long term at a program. But there are exceptions.

Realistically I don’t see the Hoos poaching a London guy.

I don’t see the issue myself. It’s not like London himself would be coming back. And half his staff are Virginia guys anyway. Was Taylor Lamb any more qualified than Matt Johns would’ve been?

I don’t see Elliott going after a gimmicky guy. Ever.

I was looking at not poaching a London guy from a respect standpoint.

Following up on @dave92 given the way Coach Elliott handled BA last season, I think he has no interest in gimmick offense or gimmick players.
