You kid
I think Vegas Knights head coach Bruce Cassidy would take a pay cut, go back to being an assistant, and switch sports for the bit!

Hello Old Friend!
Man I love this name. My all timer is still- āDāBrickashaw Fegusonā.
You called this from day 1. Great move for St johns.
Obviously from an Xās and Oās perspective Pitino is one of the best to ever do it. But you also have to wonder how much heās got left in the tank, dude is 70 and has been a coach for almost 50 years now.
Iām sure heāll bring some much need stabilization to St. Johnās but by no means is he a long term solution.
In the portal era he can have them good next year or the year after. Beyond that is the far future anyway. Good hire.
Oh yeah no doubt heāll turn them around immediately. Iām just interested in how much longer he goes. Feels like a Mack Brown at UNC type situation, but with even higher short term upside.
Painter going to get canned? Purdue fans are pretty fed up and have been for a while.
No, theyāll wait until next year when they go undefeated and win every game by 20 points only to lose in round 1 to a local CYO team that got lost on the way to their game.
Painter gets canned, Tony hires him on as an assistant and offensive specialist, UVA wins the national title next year.
Who would want to be the next coach at Purdue if winning your conference and getting 1 seeds doesnāt cut it? Lol
The man couldnāt get Edey any touches down the stretch vs the shortest team in the field (and I think in D1 too)⦠Donāt think we would want his offense. I did like that offensive set he ran a few years back where they would give Carsen Edwards the ball and then tell him to shoot it.
If we are playing the fantasy offensive consultant game, Iām calling Bob McKillop and pulling the Rick Barnes move of just installing another coachās entire offense. Itās a continuity motion offense with spread spacing, so it has something for everyone.
Honestly I thought his offense was lazier than normal this year, Edey was so dominant Painter didnāt really have to throw in any major wrinkles. For the majority of possessions it was just dump it in the post and let Edey either score in the paint or pass it back out of a double for a wide open three.
Painter historically is a very good offensive coach though, his teams routinely rank in the top 10 of adjusted O on Kenpom and his zoom actions (the 2019 offense that we guarded better than anyone) are fantastic at spacing out defenses and getting perimeter players open looks from 3. Finding enough athletes to have an elite level defense has always been his main problem.
I understand Purdue fans are justifiably frustrated but firing him would be a mistake IMO.
Yeah, my earnest opinion is that firing Painter is crazy talk. He just didnāt have enough talent this year. I think last year was a year was a bigger bobble by him. You donāt get talent like Jaden Ivey fall into your lap too much.
His best team had a dude who could go make plays when all the patterned stuff inevitably gets bottled up in March.
So basically, he needs to keep getting good guard talent and he needs to change up his approach to the tourney.
well spoken and thoughtful
