If Painter is fired/goes to Notre Dame
-Trey Kaufmen-Renn
-Caleb Furst (as mentioned by @Hoohoohoo )
-they have a 2023 kid named Myles Covin who looked REALLY good when I watched him. I was like āwe need to be on this kidā and then shortly saw after he was already committed to Purdue"
-Kanon Catchings 2024 commit
Ed Cooley goes to Georgetown
-Kayvaun Mulready? No idea if he follows Cooley to Georgetown or stays at Providence.
Pitino is a great hire as a quick shot in the arm to turn things around. Thereās even a possibility that he sticks around for a little while. Heās 70, but with health luck he could have another 6-8 coaching years in him. Or not, and you still got help turning things around.
And Pitino can still live (and play golf) at Winged Foot. Adds about 30 minutes to the drive to work, but he wonāt be driving.
Theyāre not firing Painter. Thatād be nuts and Purdue would rocket back to a middle tier BIG team.
He gone
Notre Dame is a low key great job. Easier league that still has rep, football school so you can hide a bit, been on a downturn so you get more of a window and still pretty well connected in both midwest and east coast.
Whatās the scuttlebutt there? Shrewsberry?
This Ed Cooley stuff is a pretty good drama
Roy Hibbert in the replies asking for info lol.
I donāt remember a coach ever taking this kind of thing public
The level of transparency is pretty unsettling. Hate to be a providence fan right now.
Providence should just fire him and allow GT to pay him a lot less.
I think Providence is looking at a certain downgrade if Cooley leaves though. Heās made 7 NCAATs in 12 seasons; Providence made 2 in the 12 seasons before he got there.
Yeah Iām not sure thatās true. But guarantee schools are gonna be out there trying to find the next Tang now. Benefits the J Willys.
Hopefully for JWilly
Tang was long time assistant that cheated. Since cheating is ok now it benefits him. Remember we talked about how many big time guys they offer and get to visit
Yep. If Arizona hadnāt been caught, Book Richardson would have a major head coaching job right now too. The guys whoāve been playing the game before it was legal are a step ahead.
That is exactly my take. Also doesnt mean he cant coach. But he does get real players
Yeah pretty lazy tweet by Dana. Is she familiar with Mike Hopkins? Iām guessing it all evens out between long time assistants and young, midmajor coaches in terms of long term success.
