Dang⦠while not surprised⦠I am a bit surprised.
Same. Not surprised. Yet itās just kind of wrong. Despite the terrible season they were trending up. Finished well and have a really good group of young guys. Thatās the business though.
Feel bad for Pastner because itās hard to dislike a guy with his relentless positivity. I donāt know what heās like as a coach, but his public persona gives off real Ted Lasso vibes.
Maybe the positivity could be a better fit at a place like Cal with no expectations of success.
AAR
Ouch! An old friend on the radar.
Have to cut some dead weight from the PAC 12 if this were to be real marketable (can we cut some of our dead weight too). Not sure if it works at all (ie would be enough to bring the streaming/tv money) if the Ducks and UW get an invite to the BIG.
GT should ask some of those BME/computer engineering alums to donate whatever $$$ it takes to get Abdur-Rahim
OH and drop the calculus requirement
Um. Football drives the bus on that and we are DEAD WEIGHT on that front.
Wouldnāt mind him back on staff if they decide to fire him.
Is the North Texas coach getting talked about? His teams are really sound and good. I was impressed with them last year. They are playing great basketball right now, too.
Iāve seen his name mentioned for the Texas Tech job.
Man Pastner was the highlight of Ga. Tech basketball for me. Iām gonna miss that dude. Not too surprising that the new AD is ready to place his stamp already did it with football. Also thinking there may be some new cash floating around GT, because they went from crying poorhouse 12 months ago to taking on multiple buyouts in the last 6 months.
Haha, good point. I guess we could get an invite to the Big East!?
I will say I think we bring some other things to the table outside football in the ever shifting College conference realignment.
Speaking of football, maybe this post floats off into the sunset, but is anyone else just totally apathetic with UVa football? Maybe Iām in the minority, but well before the tragedy, I felt the bubble popped on CTE and now itās just a waiting game for a new coach in 3-4 years. There is no momentum or air in that program. Jury is out whether he can coach, mediocre recruiting, trash OC, and arguably lost the locker room halfway through the season. Even Hagans jumped ship.
Hagans jumped ship? Or was nudged overboard?
I definitely was disappointed, but Iām willing to give the coach more than one season before throwing him under the bus. Bronco and Welsh had equally miserable first years. I think with football you need three seasons before you can fairly judge progress (or lack of it).
Unfortunately, yes. The thought has actually crossed my mind where Iāve wondered if being an elite FCS program would be more fun than what the last 20 years (minus the occasional 2007, 2019) have been.
