2023 Off-Season Basketball - Outside UVa

So by that logic we should probably break up the SEC-ACC challenge as it promotes elitism. Also, we should also rework the ACC tv appearances on ESPN and give some of those to the MEAC and Big Sky. This could go on and on. UVA is a huge beneficiary of the elite college athletics and higher Ed structure

I’m talking about the rules that they put in place regarding practice for domestic and international travel tournaments etc. If Kentucky and others are allowed to practice in preparation for these events, yet other teams whom are not participating are limited in their practice opportunities then that is not a fair “rule” that the NCAA has established.

I would argue it is happening already. We are the Harrison Bergeron of College hoops. Great Vonnegut short story. The negative media coverage is our hideous mask, Duke community college courses and UNC fake classes the weights that anchor us down, 2019 is our moment we throw off the shackles, and both the story and 2019 end in a dance…for those of you that haven’t read the story, trust me, this is spectacular literary analysis and application, though the hoops ending (2020-23) and that of the story itself is suboptimal.

Everyone here would like more televised non-season UVa hoops content, I’m pretty sure.

Yet uva is still a beneficiary of said rule. I seriously doubt mid majors can afford to send their programs to Italy every four years. If you really wanted fairness with the summer competition rule, you’d get rid of them entirely

Then don’t establish a rule and not enforce it. If it’s a rule then we shouldn’t be able to practice more than other teams and Kentucky shouldn’t be able to practice more than us just because they are on tv. If it’s NOT a rule then let us travel Every year if we want and let us practice as many hours as we want. It’s simple.

And guess what you would get? Kentucky having an even bigger advantage lol. You should tell Charlie baker you have it all figured out

NOTRE DAME: Micah Shrewberry, associate head coach Kyle Getter (Virginia), Mike Farrelly (Penn State), Ryan Owens (Indy Heat), DBO Pat Rogers (retained), recruiting coordinator Grady Eifert (Penn State), assistant to head coach Tre Whitted (Penn State), director of recruiting Brian Snow (Penn State)

Interesting - Grady Eifert - my favorite Purdue guy ever now at Notre Dame.
He failed to box out Mamadi on the famed tip out and then also gave up the key Hunter drive in OT that gave UVA the lead with 28 seconds left. Love that guy.

Bro is/was a TE in the NFL, right? He was kind of a weak link on that Purdue team, I thought

Yep - was … retired. Interesting tidbit is he is the brother in law of Zack Martin - the all pro guard on the Cowboys.

Didn’t he also miss a FT that allowed us to be only down 3 when Ty got fouled?

I think that was Ryan Cline.

You’re right. Thanks.

If Guy is still in the game when he’s older, it won’t be as a scout.

How can anyone not like Coach Ham

He’s great. For his sake and the ACC’s sake I hope he gets them back to competing at the top level of the conference again.

It would be nice, but I don’t see it. They won’t be as bad as they were last year, and will benefit if no injuries / sit-outs this year. But where’s the shooting? Where’s the offense? Unless Baba Miller lives up to the hype.

Yeah I don’t see it either. Just would love the get them back to fill strength here soon. Even though they are our kryptonite when they’re at their best.
