Especially since we won’t actually get any of them.
I think I got your point. We can fit him into the formula because he is so tiny. Like a baby Kihei. CTB playing 4D chess.
Think of a smaller, more athletic Kyle Guy (not really as Guy could dunk) - but Mallory is more of a dynamic handler that can shoot. You could win championships with a backcourt of Mallory / Bliss / Kneuppel
Crazy to think those 3 guys could be on grounds this time next year, and we’d still have McKneely, Rohde & Gertrude with 2 or 3 years of eligibility left.
I don’t think all six would be there at the same time - there would be attrition. Not enough minutes to go round. Five maybe.
That’s why I was thinking it might be better if CM stayed in 2025…assuming we get Bliss or another college-ready 2024 PG.
How tall is Mom?
Tony is filling out Starbucks applications now?
He’s recruiting for team managers.
Kon II and Jacob Wilkins made Jamie Shaw’s 9 standouts for day 1
8. Four-star SG Kon Knueppel
This was an interesting setting for Kon Knueppel, one I was curious to see how he would react. You immediately saw the skill. Knueppel is a premier shooter, with that, you see his ability to play on balance and gather to shoot off the catch or the bounce.
But, while ultimately his money will be made with the amount of shots he knocks down, he is more than just a shooter. Knueppel played very good team defense. He was always in the right spot with his rotations, able to guard in the passing lanes and throw his weight around with forwards. Knueppel is a good passer, a good rebounder, and he someone who can get out on the break and finish around the rim.
He has taken official visits to Stanford, Notre Dame (old staff), Louisville, and Virginia.
9. Four-star SF Jacob Wilkins (2025)
It was the shot-making the stood out here, and it shined for Jacob Wilkins. Pushing 6-foot-9, the long and explosive Wilkins knocked down an array of shots in his second game, scoring confidently from each level.
Wilkins, who is the son of hall of fame Dominique Wilkins, is an upside prospect, with a ceiling as high as any player in the camp. His thing is being able to string together the flishes in a consistent manner. The jump shot looked good, he shot it with great balance. He also moved well off the ball, cutting into space and catching it ready to make a play.
Indiana is his latest offer, joining Alabama and Georgia for the Loganville (GA) Grayson High wing. He finished with 17 points on 7-for-12 from the field and 3-for-6 from three.
Should I read anything into not being mentioned for Wilkins?
We havent offered. Those three have. We are probably going to offer. He was the first kid Tony watched this past spring 16U or 17U.
Travis Perry struggled today/this aint Kentucky HS bball anymore. Trent Perry showed some vision, still staying west coast most likely.
Kon told the Louisville writer he’s scheduling OV to Alabama and Notre Dame (new staff). Didn’t mention Duke. Notre Dame could be the sneaky option here. Close to home + good coach + gutted inherited roster which means ample playing time for whoever they add in 2024.
I imagine Kon like he said he would will drop a top 6: UVA Wisconsin Marquette Ohio State Notre Dame Alabama
Why is Kon going to Alabama and Louisville on official visits? Genuine question. Stylistically, both seem like weird fits. Louisville running … nothing. Alabama running zero midrange and questionable ethics.
Nate Oates is a Wisconsin boy and probably has connections to the area. Also why not check them out, they just had two first round draft picks and shoot a lot of 3s. Maybe it doesn’t highlight his midrange game but they have unlimited official visits now.
I dont think players and their families care as much as we fans do about the “ethics” part. I remember @BDragon mentioned it could be seen as a positive as in “He’s a coach that will go to bat for you”. Not my opinion but Im also not a player or a family member of a player so my opinions form differently.
Some calendar perspective here when these recruits talk about visits…there’s a five day window between July 6 and August 20 that visits are allowed. And nobody’s taking visits on Aug 20, they’re waiting on home football games. So for the most part, future visits mean September.
It’s just not worth paying attention to. A lot will change by then.
So… perhaps he’s not going to visit Alabama?
That one surprised me not because of Oates or culture but because I thought distance was such a strong consideration for him.
A lot of recruits now are going to visit every school that wants them to. I actually wonder if that changes some with the rule change to unlimited officials.
A few years back they started allowing the 5 junior year (before August) and 5 senior year visits. So a lot of recruits now use those five junior visits this time of year…use them or lose them. Often to schools they’re not even seriously considering.
It used to be they got 5 total, starting Jan of your junior year so same general time window, but it was rare for a recruit to actually use all five visits. The reason was they were saving them for the fall…and of course by then their recruitment was already done or close to it.
Anyway I just wonder if having unlimited visits reverts behavior closer to how it was before…without feeling the need to take the junior year visits, many of them wait and end up taking fewer total.
