2023 Summer Recruiting Thread

Honestly, Stevenson is an afterthought in my mind. I’m looking to Wednesday to see if the staff can somehow flip Bliss away from Villanova. Probably a tall task, but UVa does have time to sell if he chooses Virginia. Bennett usually does a good job when the minutes are available.

Didnt realize Matt Hodge dropped 42 points against St Johns (WCAC champions).

Jersey City >>> Washington DC Hoops?

I’m really starting to like this guy

At this point would we even take Stevenson as a ‘23? Roster seems pretty well put together, and there’s not really a need. ‘24 would make more sense.

Yes. He wouldn’t play much but frontcourt depth a big need going forward

Did Stevenson end up crushing AAU this summer? Last I heard, he was struggling a bit and not looking like a guy ready to jump into a significant role at the next level.

Nah nothing about Stevenson’s AAU stats screamed that he’s ready for a reclass let alone that he’d be a OaD in next year’s draft. He wasn’t bad but the shooting and rebounding was inconsistent, and he still needs to put on a good amount of muscle.

I believe he played pretty good the last tournament. At least his stats were a lot better. I didn’t see much the few times i seen him play but you can tell he has talent. Don’t think he’s quite ready yet

More David Punch highlights. Plays against other Texas kid on our radar Devon Pryor on Friday of the Texas scholastic period (wonder if someone goes, I think HGN mentioned it as a possibility)

Edit: Devon Pryor Pryor = Trey Murphy. Punch = Gill if he was allowed to develop a 3pt shot and shoot them.

On Ryan Jones Jr front, Florida just landed a commitment from John Bol 7-2 center and he’s transferring to Ryan Jones Jr’s school (in gainesville). Saw RJ shared his commitment story with an :eyes: emoji. Also saw he was on Florida campus to watch a practice last weekend. Probably the early favorites for him.

Anyone know who’s back in town yet? I’m wondering who they’ll have on hand when Bliss arrives.

I think the whole team is back now.

Kon Knueppel is on his Louisville Official visit. Takes his Wisconsin unofficial on the 21st (same day Bliss arrives at UVA)

I feel like Kon really likes UVA but doesn’t like the distance and is waiting to see if another option pops up closer to home that is close to UVA in terms of appeal

Just caught up. Good shit all around hometeam. Hopefully TB came over to say what up

Kon Knueppel #13 in the new rivals rankings. He’s in the beyond gone territory. Why do I still have hope?

Bliss at #93 (moved up a few spots)

I think it’s ok to hold out hope up until Duke makes a full court press.

Losing KK to Duke would hurt in ways that would make Power & Keels look like nothing in comparison.

We say that every time haha. I think power was way worse than KK would be

Nothing so far suggests that he is waiting for a bigger offer like with keels and power. There is also a decent chance that Flagg will reclass to 2024 and that would likely be for Duke (unless he goes G league).

Or even if Flagg stays 2025, Kon is conceding minutes to him and maybe the Boozers his sophomore year (unless he views himself as OAD).

Power was worse because he was literally going to commit to UVA until Duke offered. The very situation of Duke coming in last second and pulling the rug from under us lol.

Duke isn’t a threat here I think. What @Tpain mentioned about Flagg reclass along with them already having Isaiah Evans Darren Harris in 2024 along with McCain and TJ Power with overlap as well. On top of Wisconsin/Phenom AAU maybe not thinking favorably of Duke after the Jalen Johnson, Jaemyn Brakefield situation.

What Im saying is that we have a multi-billion dollar endowment and the exit fee of the ACC is like only $120 million. B1G = more games close to home for Kon. How do Jim Ryan and Carla Williams not understand this?
