Sheds will definitely outperform his UVA numbers at UT. He couldn’t stay on the floor due to fouling from hard hedge and over-aggressive man defense. UT will surely use some zone with him. He will get more floor time and he is one year older.
I’m 6’ 3” and I stopped growing at 15. My sport of choice was soccer and I was barely able to get off the bench until my junior year of high school.
That year I had stopped growing and everything was easier. I was way more coordinated and I became a starter. I still think that while I was growing my brain had to keep adjusting to new locations for hands and feet.
Is there any intel on how individual players are looking in practice? Is Dunn aggressive offensively? How’s Dante’s shooting? Will Minor be able to score in the post? Is Rhode’s game translating to the ACC level and in UVA’s system? Is Elijah going to play a lot of minutes? Inquiring minds would like to know
Jump rope ha
Eh. I think he’s got some competition there, so we’ll see. From a pace standpoint, probably.
Heard Rhode is really good on offense
A lot will probably depend on if he improves on his 50 FG% allowed in the post.
Don’t wanna have my expectations too high and set myself up for failure, but man I think Rohde is gonna turn out to be a gamechanger for us offensively. His skillset seems like such a great fit on the wing, and he’s only a 2nd year.
Also transferring to Virginia is gonna make him much better with the competition level etc I think.
But I havent personally seen enough to have my own opinion. Only what I have heard
but can he guard anyone?
No. We have guys for that
Earlier VIP threads and HGN intel reports got you. Check ‘em out.
Yeah. Against most teams, he would guard their third most-dangerous perimeter player in crunch time, and maybe even their fourth guy if the opponent is playing 4-out. He’s still gotta be in the right spots helping, but if he’s good on offense, I’d take my chances with his defense.
I’ve kind of soured on some of the offseason / preseason chatter/whispers. RD was a monster from the very moment we saw him step on the court. He impacted the game in so many ways (sometimes negatively to be fair). But there were absolutely zero whispers about him in the preseason other than “redshirt? Maybe…”
So if the offseason / preseason whisper mafia wants to be taken seriously, they need to write a 10,000 word (at least) “Here’s why we screwed up the RD whispers and we apologize and we promise not to make the same mistake again” think piece (if I were editing that piece - I’d add the subhead “psst we are kidding; we are totally going to make the same mistake again, and you’ll lap it anyway, you sickos”. Which ya know… fair.)
I did not screw up RD. But my whispers are mostly voices heard in my head
Earnest (sorta) thought on all this: sometimes insider info will help to clarify. And sometimes it will obscure. The Reece NBA draft chatter was an object lesson in that. All those with insider info knew he was gone. People saw “Reece is all in on the combine, prep, workouts” and thought that meant gone. But it just meant all in on the combine, prep, workouts.
He actually looked pretty solid defensively against Creighton. Got beat by dribble drives a few times but not as much as you might expect. I think he’s a better defender than McKneely.
I’ll have something tomorrow. Probably answer a few of those anyway.
His length bothered Nembhard, Alexander, and Scheierman some. Not the quickest foot speed left to right but I agree probably a higher ceiling than McKneely as a defender. Got some long arms.
almost like being 6-7 matters … weird…
