🏈 2024/25 Virginia Football Off-Season Thread

Yeah I assume there has to be some legalese involved in earmarking the funds.

I’ll believe it when Jim ■■■■■■■■■ “breaks” the news.

Then I’ll believe it again 2 weeks later when Hootie “breaks” it.

Edit: lol yall are still censoring that :joy:

Indeed- 6 wins in 4 years- that was quite an accomplishment! But Bestwick took over for 1-10 Sonny Randle, who destroyed any semblance of competitive football in just 2 years

Bronco just trying to angle his way close enough to some day have a chance at his dream job at BYU…

It’s an opposing coach who wants to keep Elliott around as long as possible.

Those were such different times–sports were more of a side order in college where now it has become a main course. We wanted Bestwick out (Dump Dick!) but we still went to games and enjoyed them as sort of an afternoon pre-gaming for the night’s parties.

I think it’s possible they didn’t know initially and the people who need to know now do.

I don’t think there’s any reason for Lo/Jay to lie.

So that Bronco move was in conference, right? Yikes. That can’t be common.

In Bronco’s defense, the Athletic Director who hired him a year ago, Eddie Nunez, left this fall to take the AD job at Houston:

If he either (a) took the job in large part because he liked Nunez or (b) didn’t like the replacement (Fernando Lovo), it puts the departure in new context.

Can’t hurt since we are basically at rock bottom but I will believe it when I see the results on the field.

In conference for now, but Utah State is off to the new Pac-12 in 2026

Could be Elliott himself trying to save his job without outing himself as personally buying a team.

Remember when Jamie Dixon personally paid for Pitt to compete in some low level postseason tournament because he could hit a bonus clause in his contract for postseason wins or total wins or something?

Thanks, forgot about that.

Well, keep an eye out for who Bronco takes with him on staff to Utah State. He had lots of former Virginia football players on his New Mexico staff. He and Mike London together probably employ over half of our alumni currently coaching college football.

Wonder who he hires as his new OC. Matt Johns’ resume feels light to be promoted to OC.

You’d like to see donations like this happen in coordination with a new hire or systemic changes within the program … but … I mean, maybe this sets the standard for aggressive portal moves in the future. Def an overall positive thing regardless of timing.
