🏈 2024/25 Virginia Football Off-Season Thread

The problem is we will never know because the coaching IS not working now. The more years with this staff, the more “what if” players we will be left with.

Another banger from Danny. Just wild how bad this team has been over the past 3 seasons.

Whose situation worked out better for them, AC or Pop Watson at VT? Similar size and recruiting ranking. AC got to be a P4 starter for most of 2 season and Watson sat for all but 1 game and change.

Watson’s sticking around at VT. Would AC still transfer if he sat all of this season in favor of Muskett? Or sat 2 years if Muskett never got hurt?

You gotta say AC at this point. He got plenty of playing time, saw some highs and lows … ultimately didn’t work out, but that’s how these things go.

I tend to think that coaches have a pretty good idea how good their QBs are and the depth chart reflects that. Sure, sometimes the 3rd string turns out to be great … but that’s really rare. Watson was 3rd string for reason. Tech is in for a shock when Drones transfers and Watson doesn’t turn out to be Tyrod Taylor V2.0.

Not saying he’s Tyrod by any means but why is the UVA game always the coming out party for the next VT qb

Come hang out with me in Germany this week… no one over herew even knows what UVA stands for. The Spanish just think I’m spelling a grape.

If he wins every game next year by 10 he would still be at the bottom. I really don’t see how we can give him another year. Its truly not justifiable.

It’s because UVA is very, very bad at football.

My question: what do you do now if you’re Elliott? Portal will likely hit us hard, and he’ll need funds to put together a roster. I can’t imagine anyone donating to a guy we don’t have faith in whose contract we’re waiting to run out. How do you run a program that’s killing time to let you go for cheap?

We did this last year and they started talking about Drones heisman hype for 2024. They never learn

Honestly there’s nothing good about that situation. There are some potential long term upsides, but it’s not worth diving into.

IMO coaches are delusional control freaks so I guess his spins hard into his plans and processes and fills as many roster spots as he can by hook or crook.

Is UVA vs VT football the easiest game prep in American sports?

I would say look for a power 5 OC job, but I don’t know how many offers he’d have.

Per Preston Willett, UVA & VT (as well as UNC & NC State) are being fined the maximum allowable amount for their respective pre and post-game altercations. There goes some pennies from the TE buyout fund.

Would be interesting to watch AC at Monmouth. As an adjunct the only perk I get is attendance at all athletic events.

Probably just keep cashing those checks and every time I feel bad look at my 401(k) balance.

The only way Elliott keeps his job after next year is to make a bowl game AND beat Tech. That will require a new OC and some amazing luck getting above average talent out of the portal.

This all assumes he isn’t fired in the next few weeks.

Maybe ask Ron if he needs a GM named Tony
