Iām amazed that Chris Beatty, the guy who originally made his name as Percy Harvinās HS coach and used that to get college jobs as the recruiting guy/position coach/ bagman is now the Bears interim OC. Somehow he turned recruiting Jordan Addison and coaching him at Pitt in 2020 into breaking into the NFL with the Chargers, then going to the Bears along with Keenan Allen. OC gets fired, QB coach becomes the interim OC. HC gets fired, interim OC becomes interim HC, WR Coach Beatty becomes interim OC. For a guy not known for Xās and Oās, great for him. Fake it till you make it.

Seems like better functional ATH, touch and accuracy than what we just had.
Unfortunately Venables seems to prefer OCs from the Briles tree at the moment. His next OC hire will actually be pretty fascinating to see whether he sticks with that or shakes it up a bit more.

Wouldnāt want to spook off any of our highly vaunted recruits! I realize we all already knew this, but that would seem to indicate Elliott will be returning.
A. If something is going to happen money is going to need to be committed from donors. That could take a minute.
B. Yep it is kinda shitty to the kids, but is what it is. Lots of schools have played it like that.
C. Really does not hurt us to wait a week or two. We are going to be swimming in a lower level candidate pool so letting some trickle down from UNC, WVU, etc settle might actually be helpful. The only benefit from moving asap is to get moving in the portal and work to keep some of the current guys in place
