Iâm assuming that they did that initial seeding anticipating expected results in the conference tournaments, not seeding teams as they stood at the time.
On3 morning bracketology has us as the 3 seed in Philadelphia which is a good an outcome as we can hope for
The one and only guy on bracketmatrix who still had us as a 5 seed yesterday⌠has finally seen the light and moved us to a 4. Hallelujah!
We should be ahead of Nebraska too now that I look at it. Better in all 3 resume metrics and 2/3 predictives. Only issue is their high-end wins that we canât match (until tonight hopefully)
As it stands this morning, we look like a 3 just based on metrics (basically, high 2 in results / low 3 in predictives**). But the big question is what effect our conference tourney wins have? And do we have to beat Duke to get the 3?
** BPI doesnât seem to have budged from 23, but maybe the BPI is still at brunch / having its coffee?
This is my main reason for managing my expectations about our potential seed. Plus, as fans we tend to overvalue the most recent results, but one game (whether for us or a team âaheadâ of us) is just 3% of a teamâs total performance â it barely moves the needle, unless we were effectively tied.
Still hoping for a 3 seed, of course. Maybe we even made that pre-lunch cut, idk.
I agree with your premise but we jumped 6 spots in Kenpom!! I know teams are bunched up between 12-20 or so but that shouldnât be ignored
loooking at other games today, if Houston beats Arizona does Houston knock Florida off the one line if florida loses?
Yeah my theory for the last week was that weâre stuck on the 4 line regardless of result. Happy to be proven wrong.
Thought our only chance would be if Bama and Purdue lost early. We got one of those results. I canât see Nebraska falling to the 4 line based on current consensus. Donât necessarily agree with that but is what it is.
Regardless of result, including beating Duke to win the ACC championship?
Iâd prefer to end the season with a win and boycott the tournament as 30-4 ACC Champions rather than accept our 4 seed. Would be perfectly content not playing the tournament
Eyeing the teams in our vicinity of the NET, rooting interests today:
- UCLA over Purdue
- St. Johnâs over UConn
- Florida over the Vanderbilt Duke Miles
We can also root for our past opponents Dayton (A-10 semis) and UNC-Central (MEAC finals).
If the committee has largely locked in the bracket before conference championships they deserve to be replaced by ChatGPT
Careful, this is message board genius material.
The chairman says they already scrubbed the list above 8 seeds once and plan to do it both today and tomorrow. Whether we should believe that or not, who knows. They compare you with the team just below you on the list and go on down. Really I think weâre trying to pass either Gonzaga or Nebraska. The numbers are all so close though between those two and us. You could make an argument for any of those 3 for the last two 3s (all with warts too). Would be nice to get tonight (though of course with our luck weâd play the first 6 Wisconsin).
Fuck it. We owe Arkansas for 1995 and Michigan for 1989. Odom knows USU. And weâve beaten Hoiberg in the second weekend before.

Hilarious how the talking point for us was âthe metricsâ, now that our metrics should have us firmly at a 3 and above Nebraska, everyone is saying âeye test and no marquee winsâ.
Ridiculous shit. The committee needs to cut through the BS. Other teams are allowed to have bad days against great teams. Gonzaga got blown the fuck out against Michigan. Nebraska got blown out at UCLA. No reason to have us at a 4 besides anti ACC bias
Best case scenario might be winning tonight, getting snubbed to a 3, and carrying that âwe are getting disrespectedâ attitude into next week. Win tonight should be a 2, otherwise should be a 3. We should be above Nebraska and Gonzaga in the pecking order.
could pass uconn for 6th in WAB if they lose to st johns
