Acuff is Ark, but I don’t think we will be opposite them. Both 4s or 3/4. Would suck if they’re our 5

(Famous last words…) Johnnies don’t scare me. Can’t shoot

my theory is that he’s smart enough to know that changing his bracket too much on the final weekend would be too obvious so he makes a few changes here and there just to get it to the point where it looks good to a casual observer

Whoops that’s what I meant

Agree, out of all those teams def want to avoid Ark.

bracket matrix just updated. several more brackets have moved virginia up to a 3. average seed is down to 3.58 but still behind Nebraska (3.26) for the last consensus 3. vandy only a 3 in 6 brackets, and virginia is also a 3 in most of those.

This was my case for wanting Arkansas before.

Acuff is awesome, but he’s not an automatic size defensive mismatch for us the way talented scoring wings are. He’s small enough that Chance and Dallin can guard him. Where we get in trouble is the bucket getting wing-sized guys who have to be guarded by a Malik-Jacari-Sam combo.

If this is how things end up for us tonight, I’d feel…pretty good? I know people would be worried about losing to MSU again in March, but they kinda feel like the most beatable 2-seed to me as long as we stay competitive on the boards.

I’d feel pretty damn good w a MSU matchup in the S16

We have someone who played in that system last year though. Nice scouting advantage to have.

And another one where we have an inside scouting advantage, with Ugo having played two years for Cal — and with the quick turnaround.

Different team, different players, but same concepts, same stuff.

Trauma be damned, Odom beating MSU in the tournament (and then stealing his players when Izzo retires from the humiliation) would be catharsis. I’m rooting for it.

Am scared of BYU a bit though, not sure how we’d contain Dybantsa (not that anyone else has really figured it out either).

Yet BYU has 11 losses. Seems like teams have figured it out enough — maybe not stopping AJ, but shutting down the supporting cast.

Yeah without Saunders, they’re super vulnerable from a supporting cast perspective. It’s probably a situation where you let Dybantsa get 40 and not sweat it too much as long as nobody else gets going.

On the espn bracket- I did not factor the ā€œDante Harris revenge gameā€ into my assumption that we’d finally get over our R64 woes :open_mouth:

Question for thought… would you rather be:

  • 3 seed in Michigans Bracket
  • 4 seed in Floridas Bracket

Stayed ahead of Vandy in the NET. I guess out of an abundance of caution, rooting for Arkansas today.

3 seed all the way because it’s an extra game that it doesn’t matter who the 1 is. Plus I’m focused on most favorable second round matchup at this point.

Hmm… would 4 seed with a Texas tech 5 vs 3 seed with a BYU 6 sway you?
