Yeah, I wish, but I think that ship has sailed. And lit the harbor on fire on the way out.
Mox with a rough post game interview. She may want that one back after sleeping on it.
Fire up the coaching search threadâŚ
Oof, couldnât stand to listen to the whole thing, but ouch. Sounded like a coach who knows she just got fired. Dead woman walking.
WOW. Completely unprofessional. Iâm embarrassed on her behalf.
Does she not realize that the one thing she still has going for her is her positive vibe / personality / charisma?
Iâm thinking the same thing as @TheGrinch , that Carla has already had the difficult convo with her.
To be clear, I donât think Carla said to Mox âbeat Tech or youâre firedâ - though she may have.
But I think Mox knows (whether directly or indirectly communicated) that this loss probably cost her her job - probably not just because itâs Tek, but because it means the ladies have almost no chance at making the tourney.
I didnât think you meant that, and I donât mean that either. But after the financial support Mox got (not to mention the superstar local kid falling into her lap), surely the expectations were made clear. And we are falling well short.
Weâre on the same page.
Also, wheels might be coming off â âissues with our on court chemistryâ!?!?! - at a press conference? Daaaamn.
Yeah, that was a tough press conference to watch. Sad that this just hasnât worked out, but the writing is in the wall
One of the big red flags is that the first question wasnât reserved for Jeff White like it is at every other Virginia sports press conference.
Not sure it needs a thread lol. I can give you a brief synopsis of the two phone calls that will comprise this coaching search:
Call #1: âHi Dawn, is there a finite number for which you would consider coming home? No? Ah well, you understand we had to ask right?â
Call #2: âHi Tammi, here is a competitive but not outlandish ~6 year contract with an out after 4. The jet is in the air, weâll see you in a few hours. I hope you understand we did have to call Dawn first, but we are still very excited to have you.â
#notaninsider tho
The Ohanian support should make this a very attractive job.
Yeah it doesnât have to be any more complicated than this.
As weâve said previously, there will never be a better time. The other Big 4 sports (football, MBB, and baseball) all have settled coaching situations with zero dead money (I mean, how lucky is Carla that all of Bronco, Bennett, and Oak left without any needed buyouts!). WBBâs coaching search can get the administrationâs near-undivided attention.
I listened to the whole post-game interview and it sounded like the same reporter asking all of the questions that she was annoyed with. There might be some history there. Does anyone know who that reporter was? We canât blame it on Doug Doughty this time. ![]()
âHey Dawn itâs me Paul Tudor Jones. I just won capitalism. Can you believe the schmucks who bought gold recently? Anyways Heres <insert money for buyout plus $2 million a year contract> since winning capitalism has taught me itâs meaningless to hoard all this wealth and my kids will probably spend it all on hookers and blow when Im dead anywaysâ
I couldnât stand listening to the whole interview.
If weâre looking for hatchet job hacks, may I nominate Chris Graham?
Edited to add: In the AFP writeup, Graham uses the exact same wording âThe âHoos (15-7, 7-4 ACC, NET: 37) trailed 63-58 with 4:33 to go, after a pair of free throws from Tabitha Amanze, and then went ice cold.ââ Whether thatâs because he listened to the interview from his Momâs basement or because it was him, I donât know. If it was him, it might explain Moxâs frosty demeanor, since heâs a known character assassin, and I will not hold her tone against her. But you still canât say âwe had some team chemistry issues on the courtâ in a presser.
Seems a better use of PTJâs money than letting his trophy wife blow it on the likes of the Contemplative Commons.
It was this guy⌠confirmed:
lol
Since Dawn wonât happen. Tammi is as much of a no-brainer as Odom was 10 months ago.
Berman is a long time Hokie reporter, I think. Maybe dabbles with the Hoos (or only when they overlap).
