The Hoos have moved up to being the ālast team inā in ESPNās latest projection. Although, thatās very tenuous since the ālast four teams inā are all ACC teams.
ESPN is basically just waiting for the bubble teams to take care of themselves.

Well, crap. I went to bed when we were down 2 in Q4, hopeful weād pull it out.
We might be cooked. The game at Louisville is hopeless, so now we probably need to beat #20 UNC (at home, but even so), on top of beating Stanford (I think it was a tossup before, but now we might be slight dogs) and then VT to finish the season. Its tough but not impossible. Also, getting hot for ACCT remains an option because weāre close.
That having been said, Iām less hopeful than I think I made it sound. Maybe 1 in 4 chance we make it?

Not to sound like Iām not pulling for the team, but Iām fine with this season falling apart. This coaching regime isnāt doing it, and I honestly donāt know that barely crawling to the tournament is worth it if it prevents a new hire.
I really like Mox, but the product on the floor just hasnāt been anywhere near good enough. This many years of this much undisciplined basketball indicates to me that the staff just isnāt teaching what needs to be taught to be a winning program.
But others know the team way better than I do. Who knows.

Yeah, even if Virginia sneaks into the NCAA Womenās Tournament, Iāll probably be advocating for the program to move on. Coach Mox has stabilized the program from the nadir that Tina Thompson left it in, but I donāt know if she can raise it any higher than the current state.
As weāre seeing, the problem with entering a season with a coach who is coaching for her job is that you either delay the inevitable or you end up committed to a coach who isnāt all that impressive to being with.

Got in an early hole but strong over the ensuing 15 minutes, good 8 point halftime road lead.
If the season ended today this would be a Q1 game and we are 0-5 in Q1 thus far, so big big big opportunity in the second half.
