Ellerbe another DC guy and cool ass dude.

Big Ted from DeMatha was on your squad I think. Man I’m getting old lol.

Ted was a Sr at DeMatha when I was a frosh at McNamara in HS. He played against my middle brother HS and College (Richmond).

Mannnnn I won’t get no damn work done today messing with you lol.

Monty was cold blooded in HS and College.

Monty Williams and Walt Williams were like gods in the PG County schools back then and another guy Mike Tate (GTown and later Xferred to JMU) was a HS prodigy as well.

2024 kid. Teammate of Jamie Kaiser on that New World team (head coach is Bishop Ireton coach) But from North Carolina and that Rick Lewis circle. Had a good weekend and noticed Williford follows and is active. Could be a target

Plays like Tyrell Ward/Ryan Dunn with a mean streak from what little I’ve seen

Is he related to Jerod Mustaf?

I’ve heard some old time hoopers there at UMD are the most happy campers with the Coach staff and Administration these days.

Since it’s quiet on the Freddie front

biggest issue with tony’s recruiting. Don’t know what he ever diverged from it.

No diverging. Just again the back to back weak recruiting classes following 2016 + guy and jerome leaving early + Juzang being stolen from us last second + COVID = boom, where we are. 2022 is the reset.

Agreed. Our system can be pretty lethal when packed with size and length.

A weird part of the most recent few iterations of UVA hoops has been some folks trying to like deny that height and length are important in basketball. And no, I don’t want to restart debates about certain players, but it’s always kind of funny to me. You can certainly overcome not having them, but they’re objectively important in the sport!

Anyway, would be great to have some size and length advantages again. When that team with Malcolm, Joe, Gill, etc rolled on the floor, that was an intimidating team.

Clark followed by Casey, Reece and mccorkle. I get each offer I’m a vacuum but put together it’s not a lot of size

Reece might be the best guard/point guard defender Tony has ever had/he’s got wingspan though. Casey had wingspan, but he was never a sytem fit. McCorkle idk

I think if you had Reece + Casey up to their expectations (especially with Casey’s nearly 7 foot wingspan) then Carson makes sense. Two guys with the length and physical tools to be all ACC defense + a supposed knockdown shooter. And Carson isn’t tiny, he is taller than guy for example.

I’d argue issue with Carson wasn’t so much his size (although I don’t think he had a notable wingspan relative to his height) as his speed. We could get away with a Guy out there because he was insanely quick (plus he was surrounded by plus defenders). Carson was smooth and skilled, but never had the speed and bounce that Guy had. Just couldn’t keep ACC level guards in front of him and couldn’t take guys off the dribble.

Although with more playing elsewhere, who knows - could develop it. Or could develop a kind of crafty YMCA-gym game that’s lethal in the right match-ups.

Yup, gotta play to get crafty.

The speed could also be somewhat due to the high school foot injury. Although I don’t remember him looking particularly quick in his older clips. I do think if they had panned out, Casey, Reece, JAR, and Shed would have been a group with good physical defensive tools and perhaps could have hidden Carson

Is that Reece’s HS team?
