lol. If we are being honest, Jamie Kaiser is a solid player but I would rather get Mayar Wol. AAU teammate of Freddie Dilione (so Tony saw him play Friday night). 6’8 but also very mobile and versatile/has the potential to be special. Redshirt him and Blake Buchanan to 2024 a la Hunter and Huff redshirting together.

Eric Bossi at 247 says that Blake Buchanan says that we’ve now offered.

The note is in a thread on the UVA 247 board.

Buchanan? Just the usual keeping tabs with assistants, Getter I assume. It’s been the same with most of the players we’re talking about. Assistants see them in Fall and maybe once over the winter. Then TB evaluates these past few weeks.

TB saw him twice on Sunday as I said. First and last game of the day. I watched the last game. He struggled honestly. Was going against a bigger more athletic guy who bothered him a lot.

I dont care, and frankly if CTB is gonna toss out an offer so soon I hope we get him, if we land and stash for 24 but we need a DUDE forward asap in 23.

This is another one TB and Getter saw the first weekend. Big man from Seattle. The thing about the UAA schedule is the time gaps allow coaches to go to the UA Rise games (sort of the B division) like TB did with Buchanan this week. Same deal here in week 1.

Land and stash might not work as well as it used to given what we are seeing (it will get worse). Might be better off snatching a proven player from the Portal. Let someone else deal with the growing pains and risk.

Bossi talked about that. He comes from a family that knows collegiate development and is receptive to RS. If he RS then jets for whatever reason, uva can just go back to the portal if necessary. Given how little uva has coming back in the frontcourt in 24, i don’t think it’ll be an issue. Should see opportunity to play a lot after RS.

Buchanan has been offered, according to Bossi

This is what brought TB back. They finally posted some Sunday box scores on the UAA site. Buchanan had 7 blocks in that 8am game. 14 P (5-12) and 8R

I saw that too. If it happened, I would think it would be out there. Not convinced it has happened yet.

Level headed guys like Huff and Shedrick were fine being stashed that first year because they knew their bodies weren’t ready for the ACC. Must still be kids like that out their. Bond and Dunn (on the recent podcast) apparently also seem to understand. Of course few players will probably not be willing to wait as long as Huff did to get their opportunities these days.

I think we should avoid relying on portal bigs as much as possible. It takes longer for the bigs to learn and get comfortable with the defense because of all the responsibilities they have.

Our defense won’t reach its potential year in, year out rolling out players that are trying to learn on the fly.

We’d be much better served bringing in first years and ushering them through the program for 4 or 5 seasons. It’s going to require us to be selective in that we have to spend a lot of effort up front to make sure the buy in is there. But we need to be doing that anyway and improving at it.

Bossi is the best in the business so undoubtedly the kid is at least under the impression he has an offer. So either we offered or there was a mixup in communication.

I’m sure Bossi is getting that from one his coaches. But Blake follows on twitter, I’m asking him.

Thanks. I guess I’ve never really understood where those warm and cool ratings come from and what they mean.
