For a North Carolina kid of his age, I’m guessing he’s mainly referring to UNC and Duke with the blue blood comment but who knows
Duke and UNC both full so we good on that end. If it were the beginning of recruiting for everyone yeah I wouldn’t be optimistic. But that quote when most of the bluebloods are full isn’t as detrimental.
But there’s always a few blue bloods who suddenly have an opening late in the cycle and love nothing more than to quickly poach a 4 star who’s available to fill up their class. Not saying be pessimistic, but if he’s holding out for blue blood offers and keeps playing well, one will probably come by at some point if he waits long enough.
Question will be whether he prefers a bench spot with vague promises about opportunity at a blue blood late in the cycle or a pretty clear cut road to an ACC starting PG gig with us. That quote doesn’t make me feel great that he’s going to weigh those against one another in the way I might hope, but you never know.
Late in the cycle = if he’s not committed by August we probably aren’t going to recruit him to late in the cycle which is next spring. He will already be signed if he does commit
Good point. Won’t really have much to do with us at that point. So probably only really need to follow his recruitment up to the start of August.
Reminds me of Charlie Moore.
He’s listed at 6’3. @HoozGotNext has informed me he’s more of a combo guard than a pure point as well. But I still secretly prefer our 2nd guard to be a combo guard and then get Isaiah Abraham 2024. for that 2023-2024 season we will have Taine Dunn and McKneely in 3 guard line ups along with possibility of Bond getting 3 run at the 3 (like Matisse Thybulle). No idea where Kaiser would fit into the calculus and want to create that future roster opportunity to entice Isaiah Abraham
It would be fun to take Elmarko Jackson, Jamie Kaiser, and Tafara Gapare just out of pure spite towards Maryland since those 3 seem to be high up if not the top targets for them and Willard. Nothing says program-building like spiting a rival
Yea, Im worried that if he keep playing like he is his list of suitors gets a lot longer but i do believe we are in pretty good shape unless a blue blood does come calling.
Tony’s greatest failure in his career to date was not capitalizing on Kody’s talent. Kody couldve been one of the greats but he didn’t get enough run early.
Is this a serious post?
Lol no

thank goodness
Just remembered that Tafara in one of his recent interviews said, in regards to his Maryland visit, “The location isn’t ideal for me”. He’s a 10 star in my book
I’m shocked he didn’t like college park Maryland
For those who do like to go watch high schoolers play there is a cool charity event in Greensboro tomorrow night. All Star game that features the best high school players from the Carolinas (GG Jackson, Freddie Dilione, Gus Yalden the honorary north carolinian, Jaydon Young, Jahseem Felton, Silas Demary, that Eli Ellis 2025 kid, a bunch of 2024s Ive seen the staff like a tweet or two about. Surprised no Jarin Stevenson since a few of his stud teammates are in the event).
I have long entertained the notion that if Coach Bennett had his way, he would be playing three combo guards all the time.
Yeah, but delusional Maryland fans still think they got him wrapped up.
I would agree!
That guy on the Maryland board sold a gym membership to someone from New Zealand once. It’s a lock!
