This is why I’m fine with him as Tech’s coach. He doesn’t have a high ceiling imo so they’re never really a big threat nationally.
Buzz scared me a little afraid to say. Luckily his best team coincided with our best team and we were just straight up better. but he had a high ceiling because of the athletes he could bring in that Young doesnt
A team finally playing tight perimeter defense on Tech forcing them to make plays and they are really struggling to score. Surprised that isn’t everyone’s game plan against them
NMSU is team transfer/JuCo; they have literally zero returning minutes after the horribleness of what was happening in their program last season. Not a great look for Louisville.
Does anyone else torture themselves like I do by wondering how good our team would be if we had other teams’ starting big men on our roster? Goldin from FAU would be a great guy to have at the 5.
Had the exact same thought. He’s like Shedrick without the rim protection but with much better touch and feel for the game. So basically nothing like him at all haha
FAU plays so aggressive on offense, but without the amount of sloppy play and turnovers you’d expect. Just a bunch of guys playing under control and actively looking to score from the perimeter or off the dribble. Very fun team.
The counter argument is that Tony doesn’t know how to consistently utilize big men in his offense and never has. Face up 4s, perhaps. But 5s have never been high usage under Tony with the exception of Jay’s final years. So a great 5 here could just end up wasted. Look at Papi now, it’s going to be a big argument for great 5s to avoid us. All we can do is get em out of HS and hopefully get a couple serviceable years out of them before they either graduate or transfer.
Papi is coming off the bench playing 19 minutes a game and averaging 6 points after dropping down a level. He’s in his 6th year. Don’t think that’s going to be used against us.
