Who got exposed worse -us against Wiscy or Tech against FAU?

Probably us. VT isn’t very good so this isn’t a surprising result - they won’t beat anyone if they don’t shoot well.

Wisconsin was eye opening in terms of rebounding in particular

We’ll, that take lasted one game

I would say VT. This game showed how incredibly one dimensional they are. Run them off 3-point line, contest 3s, and they cannot score. That is not as fixable as our issues are. We can score in orher ways, and force turnovers and bad shots with our defense – VT doesn’t have that in their game as we saw.

Rebounding is a serious issue, but I don’t think the Wisconsin game exposed it. Also, it is an issue that can be addressed, at least more so than having a completely one-dimensional game.

We need Belinda on our scouting reports!

Boeheim with his Media debut. These Cuse grads just monopolize sports media…

Louisville survived in OT.

That was wild. NM State had 6 players foul out, and they only had 10 available… so late in OT they had only 4 guys on the floor. (Two of whom had 4 fouls.)

Nope. Only scoreless against Ohio State.
Shooting 56% on the year and leads his team in assist %

Oh, sorry. I wasn’t trying to misrepresent. But is Ohio State the only P6 school he was miserable against? Not sure what he scored against Oregon. I don’t think the numbers you cite would translate to a high-major team. He is coming off the bench, playing sparingly, for a mid-major team. Don’t think we ruined our prospects for a future 5 based on the differential of how Tony used him vs. what he is doing at Santa Clara, which is what the original contention was.

I hope he continues to have a better year than he would have had here!

Thanks @DFresh11. Put in a good word for me, but only if it is a paid gig! :grinning:

My current ACC power rankings based on results so far, somewhat on preseason expectations, and subjective eye test. As the weeks go will be based more on what the team has actually done/resume.

  1. Duke
  2. Miami
  3. UNC
  4. UVA
  5. Clemson
  6. NC State
  7. Pittsburgh
  8. FSU

Ok - one of the VT replies even threw in their dominance in wrestling. That does justify throwing 33 natties in their face. Not one - I repeat - not one for VT. Given the fact that only 3 (I believe) universities have never won a single championship in any sport (which is a much rarer feat than winning even one apparently), it’s hard to listen to any talk of “etc.” better programs than UVa “currently.” Objectively, their very mediocre football program is much better than UVa’s bad football program. Women’s basketball - OK, I’ll give that to them over the past several years, but I’d buy Mox for the future (unlike the Tech pundit a few years back that confidently stated VT basketball was a better buy for the future in the commonwealth). Ok, Hokies can believe that MBB is a draw since we have played “evenly” with them over the past 8 years or so, but as one Hokie acknowledged, Virginia wins the tiebreaker with a national championship. Glad it was worth something.

Thoughts:

  • We will know much more in a week, with everyone playing one SEC and one ACC team
  • I won’t rank UVa; can’t be neutral
  • I’d swap UNC and Miami. Miami’s best win was a win over a Kansas St. down two of their best players. UNC with just an OT loss to Nova
  • Not yet a believer in Clemson as right behind the big boys. Best win over Boise, and got em at home.
  • I think I like FSU and Cuse and BC more than you. I like Wake and Clemson and maybe Pitt less than you.

I like how he threw in the “etc.” I guess it implies “I could go on” but I suspect in truth it means “I can’t think of anything else VT is better at” (But really, Leslie should keep his copium to himself. He’s only asking for trouble.)

They can believe it’s a draw but that’s head to head. As far as programs go they’re not even in the same zip code as ours. If he wants to argue better team that’s another thing because it’s talking this year only. He’d be wrong on that too but we will see.

Saying program takes his argument into another stratosphere in terms of ridiculousness

In football and women’s bball, VT is in better shape currently, no question (I’m pumped about Mox, but that’s projecting ahead). In men’s bball, there’s no question Virginia is the better program, even now after we’ve dropped off from the heights of 2014-19.
