šŸ€ ACC Tournament Semifinals: Virginia vs Miami, Friday, 13 March 2026, 1900, ESPN/2

Probably the best all around basketball game of our season in terms of a product. That was a great game.

I’m pretty nervous about tonight. I think it will definitely come down to the wire.

I have an event from 630-830, so I’m sure I’ll be a lively social participant who doesn’t look at his phone the whole time.

Makes sense. Our 3P rate is up during that time, too. Also, an anecdotal observation (which probably has some data to back it up): Chance has been less effective at beating his man off the dribble / overall. That was creating certain opportunities that may have set us up better for O rebounding.

Probably some amalgamation of all of it.

Miami is a very good team. Probably top 15 from a talent perspective. This is basically a R32 or even S16 caliber opponent.

The ACC should change its rules so that the conference awards can change hands based on the conference tournament results.

Add more spice to tonight’s game by declaring the winning coach the undisputed runner-up in the COY race. And then he could steal the award from Scheyer based on the championship game.

Maybe Ugo’s eight block game yesterday (and whatever else happens the rest of the way) powers him past Malik Brown for DPOY.

Yeah, it’s a silly idea, but so are awards.

NC State strikes me as the type of team that could make the round of 32, and that we could see in that round. Miami strikes me as the type of team that could make the sweet 16. Because of our likely seeing we will probably see one of the elites if we make that round.

I love this idea just because I’d want to see Scheyer have to hang around Charlotte after an early loss and sit court side with his lucite COY award so he can hand it off to the winner of Miam v Virginia

Unpopular opinion: Preferred order of of outcome

  1. win ACCT
  2. lose tonight
  3. lose in ACCT final

Unpopular indeed because I’d very much like to have another day to celebrate a W and look forward to a championship game appearance

Your post made me think of another player who changed his game for the better. Tillis was fond of those backdown iso plays earlier in the season. I’ve noticed he’s stopped doing that. Which is for the better. I assume the coaches worked with him on that. Hopefully something similar is happening with Malik.

Luke Neer has been hammering this point: the 2023 team went to the ACCT final? Does anyone remember? Care?

Maybe some of you do (care or remember). Many more of you would (care or remember) if we had won it.

I actually think the way it broke in 2019 was kinda perfect. Win the one we were supposed to. Lose against a good team. Have more time to go home and stew and prepare.

The problem is if Scheyer won an immunity pin earlier in the season… then he could use that to block Lucas or Odom if they overachieved.

For those of us that attended the 2023 tourney, it was a lot of fun and a good memory to hold on to after the turd we laid the next week.

I think practically speaking, it takes pressure off tonight a little. Win and you get an opportunity for a title, lose and no biggie and one more day rest and prep.

I cared because I was at the semifinals game and it was one of the most enjoyable postseason games I’ve ever been to…. Soooo good.
And was at the quarterfinal win vs North Carolina - and that was really good too… had no appetite to go to the Duke fiasco the next day … thought what happened would happen.

And also the loss in the madness was even more maddening because the team was playing well after BVP was finally taken away from Tony…
And we had that game won thanks to Sheds playing great.
And that wasn’t a foul on Sheds!!!

If we win the ACCT this year it will forever have an asterisk because Mikel Brown was injured during it.

100% takes the pressure off. I was nervous yesterday - not that a L would have been a huge deal but wanted at least 1 win in the ACCT. Tonight is house money a little but would love another shot at Duke

I’d guess most people who agree with haney’s not-really-that-unpopular opinion would probably still rank ā€œlose in the quartersā€ at the bottom of the list. That’s just shameful.
