Yep! Overall my thoughts are I’m not sure what benefit he gets with a redshirt year vs. competing for minutes. Physically he’s very developed and looks like a player that’s been around a college weight room for awhile.

Obviously still the benefit of learning the offense and defense but seems like a much different case from Traudt where college level strength seemed to be a concern. I think he could be similar to Kihei in ratings and stars might make you think one thing but don’t be surprised to see him taking the court more than expected.

All-state player in a strong division of NC basketball (same as Trey Murphy, who wasn’t all-state…story for another day) so I have faith in him being pretty battle tested to get to this point.

And you coached against him right? So all first hand shit

Haha sadly a view from the bench of watching him go to work. Here’s what I put together for my team ahead of time.

#20 Anthony Robinson - South Florida commit, Long and slim 6’10 center. Pretty athletic and quick jumper (the act of jumping not jump shot). If he gets it low, he moves pretty quick for the dunk. Is not really a shot blocker despite leaping ability and height. Of course does still get just over a block a game but that’s expected at 6’10.”

Sounds a bit light on him but obviously trying to spin it a bit more that way since my team was playing them. Regardless 21 pts (8-9 FG), 9 Rebs, 4 Ast, 1 Blk against a solid team with more size than most high schools last season and conference champs (not trying to be cocky, just clarifying we were a good team). Goal was don’t let him get to a block but a lot easier said than done. Worked well to get there and athleticism led to 4 Orebs.

I recall @SeanJCrow sharing your assessment here. You think it’s a cause for concern as a help side defender? He still got long arms?

I wouldn’t be concerned. The tools seemed to all be there, it was just more a surprise for me that I didn’t see crazy block numbers all season long for him. His highlights show the ability to be a rim protector with some great blocks, just would prefer to see higher numbers at his size in high school.

With packline defense forcing everything back middle into the help and low possession basketball, I doubt UVA needs him to be an eraser like Jay Huff but he should have enough there to be productive!

these are forward looking statements, and could come back to bite me since it is still a high school to ACC basketball transition
