CALEB HOUSTAN

Or what are the odds UVA lands one of the 3?

That is the better way to phrase it.

Usually Virginia is done by now. Our only October commits were offered July or later. Under normal circumstances, Keels and Kaufman are both off the board for months I believe. Nah not much of a read tbh. Different situations. I think Keels is more a matter of getting him to say it, while Kaufman is getting him to make a decision.

Just one? 54.7% exactly. Nah honestly I pretty much share everything here that I know within reason. Your guess is as good as mine.

Thanks HGN. I am ready for 2020 to be over. Eddie Van Halen passing kicked it over the top for me.

Getting Keels to say Duke?

Think he means it seems that Keels has made a decision but nobody rly knows what it is, just comes down to when he’ll announce

Thanks. I reaaaaaallly trust Tony’s ability to connect w kids on a deep personal level, with the being magnified by Covid and everything virtual. I bet he’s had more one on one conversation than previous cycles.

I say all that to say I’d be pretty surprised if we don’t land one of them.

If Houstan were to pick us, and is being recruited as a 2/3, could JAR play some small ball 4 when Murphy’s not on the floor?

Well-stated! That’s one reason why most prospects who pick UVA, do so without a long-drawn out recruitment. However, Diakite is the exception.

We would be able to switch on defense and cause numerous match-up issues offensively for opposing teams.

Yeah, how about Houstan, JAR, Murphy on the floor together with either Caffaro or Shedrick. 4 guys 6’8+.

Houstan would be a 3/4. No one’s saying he wouldn’t play the four at UVA. He would some for sure. It’s just that their pitch revolves around the focus on helping him improve his ball skills and lateral quickness so that he can do that here and at the next level. Others will talk more about how they’ll utilize what he already does well. it’s really pretty standard Bennett stuff.

Truthfully, it’s three wings, a lead guard, and a Big. That big could conceivably be someone with skills like Gill. Kaufman could be that type Big, when going small at the five. Kaufman being a 3/4 and Houstan a 2/3. This adds flexibility and versatility to our potential lineups. It’s apparently no secret we have been seeking someone with Gill’s skills since his graduation. Kaufman offers that kind of potential. Doesn’t mean we’ll get both, however.

Wow look at the expectations rise here. Putting on a bear risky to hedge us all out and would happily eat the loss.

Sorry if this has already been shared. Kid has a really soft touch.

Mike Curtis should help here too. He’s not skinny but listed at 190 according to 247. For comparison Jabri is 215. He’s gonna need to get bigger regardless of position. Dre’s frame made a huge transformation in just 2 years.
