I can’t believe we just turned the corner and we are doing this. I’m just going to laugh at this point.

Like clockwork.

That

And that

It doesn’t matter what happens, this board, especially Dave, will gripe about minutes distribution.

Also, I think we’re all in agreement that Eli should get at least a few minutes a game. That’s not controversial.

If we lose because we can’t protect the ball then sure. No downside. If we win and look good, then no. Why would I? We won. And looked good. Who cares about a risky counterfactual.

Fine to want to see him some, not going to quibble with that. But my general feeling is don’t mess with something working.

Should’ve amended my comment to say “a few minutes here and there”. I’m okay with him not playing last night but thought he should’ve played a little against tech and way more in our blowouts

Yeah I’m not gonna have a conversation with you about it when you go to defensive metrics. They are worthless in this discussion (in any real discussion about defense really). In this defense what matters is if you are in the correct position almost exclusively. He often wasn’t in his minutes which, along with a 35% turnover rate in kenpom a and b games, and missing 10 of his 11 threes, is why he isn’t getting minutes. It’s not a mystery.

Last 2 games weren’t great matchups for X imo. Next few look better…

Too funny … you must be that guy who tells the coach … but I was in the right position coach and I closed out with hands up coach and I guided my player to help coach causing a skip pass to an open shooter coach…. How in the world did my guy score 20 on me coach? That other guy was out of position all the time coach and flying around coach and threatening to steal or block shots coach because he’s out of position and having to catch up coach… how come his guy was off kilter all game and went 2/9 with 3 turnovers Coach?

This is very elaborate and I can’t follow it.

Would love to see Eli with minutes alongside Reece and Isaac.

Basically a situation where he isn’t being asked to be primary ballhandler or surrounded by the misfit lineups Tony plays when we’re down or up 20.

Hopefully he gets some more chances and takes care of the ball and hits some shots!

He’s third on the team in converting two point attempts. Behind only Dunn and Taine. Dante is 2nd to last on the team btw (Isaac actually the worst).

He’s fourth on the time in FT%. Dante is shooting 53%. Only Taine and Rohde shooting worse.

He’s 1 of 11 from three. It hasn’t looked great to be fair but I think that’s in his head based on what he’s done in high school. Dante is 2 of 9 for comparison.

He can improve with ball security but I really do think he’s been put in some poor situations that have contributed to it.

He’s 7-18 from 2 against teams not named nc central or Morgan state. There isn’t much he’s done well on offense against non awful teams except for shoot free throws and that’s obviously not enough for TB to play him.

Seriously?
So let’s just remove a couple of games where he actually got 6th man type minutes to make my argument better? Come on man.
In that case let’s remove State, Ville, and Wake where he didn’t get consistent rotation minutes too. Literally took one shot in each of those games.
Keep out the 2 you mentioned.
He shot 7/15 from 2 (47%) in the other 5 games… when he was actually allowed to play. Big drop from his overall 52% shooting?
Still better than Buchanan, Rohde, Harris and McKneely.
Overall he’s 3rd on the team in 2 pt %…
But let’s take out Ryan Dunns best games from 2 against cupcakes too - 17/19 combined. He drops from 61/94 (65%) from 2 down to 58.6%.

Spot on!

You cant use defensive metrics either, got to use eye test lol

I mean there is a good reason to take those games out. It’s significantly harder to score against better competition. Keep telling yourself whatever you want though.
