⛹ Elijah Gertrude - Official Thread

You have to play Reece and Kihei** together until the Sun engulfs the Earth because that’s the type of secondary initiation combustion that can take 3 NBA caliber shooters and turn them into the 17th best offense in the country (and otherwise stall at #72, but who’s counting).

** and all their successors and assigns

I like it. I will relent on D-Ro if we can make Ro-dog happen.

Can you imagine igor and traudt over groves? Yes please

Here’s my narrative:

CTB made Eli watch hours of tape of Malachi Poindexter and 1st year Kihei in order to sign off on the redshirt burn.

After two games, Eli said “eff that you’re playing me alongside scrubs and I have twice the athletic ability as Kihei and Malachi. Initiate system override of parking brake”

Somewhere in the distance, the faint sounds of a train could be heard…it was indeed the reliability of the Taine train, which pulled up just in time to derail Eli’s hopes and dreams with its methodical reliability.

This story’s moral?

None of this makes a sense but neither does not playing Eli.

I’m pro getting Eli 5-10 minutes a game but this is wildly in line with all of CTBs other roster decisions over the past half decade. He generally prefers minimizing downside risk, even if that removes some of the upside

Does this mean Rohde is the elusive “dawg” we’ve been looking for?

That’s high praise in Tony Talk

Sounds like 30 mins/game for Rohde is low.

I suspect Tony watched a lot of TV in the early 80s, so let’s put this in his language.

Here’s Rohde moving without the ball:

Here’s all the guys who are not playing exactly 31 minutes moving without the ball:

Rohde is the new Kihei. that reads almost word for word something CTB would say about him.

Nolte was sitting right in front of us on Saturday night. He’s a good dude. And still loves the hoos. Was cheering as loud as any of us.

Hope that means yall had the good seats

I think being called an Evan Nolte is pretty good praise for Groves. His dunk attempt is right in line with the “Flying Nolte” personality wise.

Speaking of, are there any still pics of that Groves attempted dunk? Feel like that needs to be saved for posterity

We were very fortunate to have phenomenal seats. Ronnie W. hooked us up.

My wife will probably kill me for posting this, but here she is on TV (in orange sweater), arms raised in exultation after the McKneely 3 to seal it.

And all I will say is to the men on here, I hope you can find (or have found) a wife who will cheer like this for your favorite team when she didn’t even go there. I got incredibly lucky.

Oh, and since this is still the Eli thread, you can see him here too : )

Go HOOS. Play free and with joy. Have fun. Beat NC State.

I’m pro playing Eli some but only if he’s paired with the right guys. We’ve seen what he’s done when he’s the main ball handler against good comp. Those aren’t good minutes for him and his confidence or for us.

So then, how often are you going to be laser focused on getting one guy 5-10 mins only with the exact right line ups in when you are sorting out a whole bunch of variables? individual match ups with other players, what’s clicking for us already, etc etc

It’s not impossible but also silly to pretend like this is somehow a big issue right now. It just isn’t a big deal in the scheme of things.
