Ya never know. “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take” or something like that. In order to be told no you have to recruit them. And if they like a player’s skillset why not?

Yeah. You never know, right? I mean, before recruiting him what were the odds of Sheppard being interested at all? Lives in the state, parents both played for Kentucky (and his dad was a hero), Cal hadn’t really started on the 23s in a serious way so it wasn’t surprising he hadn’t expressed much interest yet. Would have been easy to dismiss him as a lost cause before even starting.
Odds on any particular one are pretty low, but you have to make the phone call because every once in a while you’re surprised.

Cause they are UNC. He downplayed the UNC fandom in an interview. Something like “Yeah my dad was a UNC fan so thats why I watched them”.

These schools and USC (cali) are probably the schools to beat for Phillips. Will be interesting if anyone at all from our staff goes to see him.

I assume at this point they feel pretty good about their standing w Dunn or standing pat til Spring transfers and focusing on 23.

Yeah. Phillips is a stud and we’d take him, because you’d have to. But it’d be hard to reconcile his place on the roster with how the team’s been assembled over the last year or so. I’d be genuinely shocked if he picked UVA.
Edit - I’d be shocked if we got Foster, too, but at least in his case you can absolutely see how he’s needed on the team.

Yeah, if they’re bringing him in at the start of the live period you have to assume they’re going to press for a quick answer, and then adjust their recruiting priorities accordingly.
